ALTA MOTORS

The new electric models of the brand

In parallel with the breakup of the partnership with Harley Davidson, Alta Motors is also meeting a requirement to collect its Redshift EXR and MXR electric models, according to a safety decision imposed by the US Department of Transportation.According to Alta Motors this requirement only applies to certain 2019 models of the High Redshift EXR and some of 2018 and 2019 of the MXR version of motocross. Also note that the throttle management software seems to have a bug in the fully closed position because sometimes it has been causing the engine to shut down altogether. The problem will however be easily solved by installing new software at no cost to customers.

The High Redshift EXR version of 2019 delivers about 49 hp with a constant torque of 42 lb / ft and reaches 14,000 rpm. The EXR is totally legal to circulate in the public way, being able in the United States to circulate freely in the calls "Green Lanes" as well as in off road routes like the bicycles. The 2019 version includes WP suspensions and Alta Motors' famous liquid cooling engine with state-of-the-art Li-ion batteries whose full charge lasts only 1.5 hours and the weight of the bike is only 124 kg.

In Europe there is no distribution yet but it is scheduled to start in 2019. Prices are still high and cost about 30% more than a gasoline engine of equivalent power. As long as there are no subsidies from the state so that the bikes can be competitive in their cost, their sales will be slow to reach volumes that in turn lower production costs. If there is no political will there will be no evolution ...
The autonomy at this time with only one load is about 80 Kms or about 4 hours of off road in silence by lanes and places previously forbidden.
Alta recently announced the production of a Street Tracker version of beautiful aesthetic effect that complements the range of EXR, MXR and SM bikes.
