PRÓXIMO PEUGEOT 208 GTI CONTARÁ COM UMA VERSÃO 100% ELÉTRICA Imagens e fotos de carro
208 GTI WILL CONTAIN AN ELECTRICITY VERSION
According to information provided by the British Auto Express, the next generation Peugeot 208 GTI will feature an all-electric version. The French manufacturer plans to unveil the new subcompact at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. In addition to the versions equipped with an internal combustion engine, a zero emission version will be revealed. The conventional 208 will be based on the CMP platform, while the electric model will be based on the e-CMP platform, specifically designed to accommodate electric propulsion systems.
In statement to the British, Pierre Imparato, CEO of Peugeot, has hinted, but without going into detail, that the French manufacturer will manufacture a fully electric 208 GTI. He said that customers, from now on, will be able to choose between conventional or electric motor, including the GTI. By extending the available versions, Imparato intends to avoid differentiating models equipped with engines for internal combustion of electric vehicles.

Another reason why Peugeot intends to electrify even performance-focused models such as the GTI is related to trying to adapt to the most demanding environmental protection legislation that will come into effect in the year 2020. Imparato does not want the future to be 'boring', which is why the manufacturer, in conjunction with its competition division, is preparing appealing proposals that combine high performance with efficiency in an attempt to please lawmakers and consumers.
Eventually, Peugeot promises to launch electrified models with more than 500 horsepower, as the French brand has proved its worth. About three years ago introduced the 308 R Hybrid Concept, a hybrid model with 500 horse-power.
