ASTON MARTIN
ASTON MARTIN'S FIRST SUV
Aston Martin announced that its first SUV will go into production at the end of 2019 after the inauguration of the new St Athan factory in Wales.
The St Athan factory includes three hangars that belonged to the Ministry of Defense. The plant's adaptation has already begun and should be completed by 2019, before the start of production of the new SUV. The new facilities, which will create 750 new jobs, reflect the British manufacturer's growth strategy.
The Aston Martin SUV, advanced by the DBX concept, will be marketed under the name Varekai, meaning 'wherever' in the Romanian language, an expression suited to an all-terrain.
The model's line of engines will be comprised of V12 and V8 blocks from Mercedes-AMG, and a hybrid system that will also be used in the newly presented 4-door AMG GT Coupe. The fully electric propulsion system will not be part of the DBX options.
