FUNNY CONCEPT OF KAROQ CABRIOLET
A short time ago we were able to see the design of a team of 23 trainees from Skoda's professional training academy, a convertible version of the new Skoda Karoq, a work where they participated in all areas of the development of a new concept, but for now will not follow for production.Although it is an interesting option for Skoda's compact SUV - an alternative to the future Volkswagen T-ROC Cabrio - the manufacturing techniques rule out this option taking into account that the methods used to eliminate the roof are more than rudimentary, cutting the pillars of a model with a radial saw.
In spite of this, the team of aspiring young people on Skoda's design, research and development team worked in all areas as if they were real engineers, including specialized interior and exterior designers, but always with the help of real experts, including marketers, valuing whether ideas were doable."The initial phase was an opportunity to sit down with the Skoda professionals. Although not exactly simple, it was very constructive. And the most important lesson we've definitely learned was the art of reasoning, which will certainly be very useful in the future, "the students said as they discussed their car.
The convertible version of the Karoq is especially aimed at young customers who enjoy nature and outdoor activities, which is why they chose the commercial name of 'SUNROQ' among all the options presented in a special Facebook contest of the brand, a formula that the Czechs had not used it before - and considered it 'unorthodox', although their rival within the VW group, SEAT, used this method, for example, to choose the name of the new Tarraco.
Compared with the Karoq, the proportions were not changed, sharing the same numbers of length, width and wheelbase, including the front is the same as the closed model, but the windshield has a higher inclination angle, while the rear is higher than expected in a convertible model, acting as wind protection in the rear seats.
To enhance the sporting character and elevate the Skoda SUNROQ category to a more special level, the young students added alloy wheels with red and black painted beams, illuminating door knobs and blinkers with specific details. In fact, from the headlights and from the taillights the Skoda logo is projected onto the asphalt.
