One of the novelties that the German brand has prepared for the 2018 edition of the Wörthersee festival that takes place every year in Austria and is already a classic for lovers of the 'GTI', is a new special edition of the Volkswagen Golf GTI.This is called the 'GTI TCR', a car that is almost ready to go into production and that pays homage to the two victories of the model that bears the same name in the TCR championship.Under the hood of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR hides a 2.0-liter TSI engine that develops 290 horsepower between 5,000 and 6,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 370 Nm.

The engine combines with a dual-clutch DSG and seven-speed, traction on the front axle and carries as standard a limited slip differential. The German manufacturer has not yet released the acceleration data for the new GTI TCR but its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h, although it can reach 264 km / h if the customer chooses to eliminate the Vmax limiter.

With 290 hp extracted from the 2.0 TSI engine, the 'TCR' will be the Volkswagen Golf's fastest production so far, when it comes to cars homologated to drive on the road. In any case, given that the Golf R can reach 100 km / h in 4.6 seconds, the 'TCR' is expected to accelerate below 5 seconds in the 0-100 sprint. The new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR will hit the market later this year, but for now the manufacturer has not confirmed what its prices will be. In any case, wait until 9 May, when the Wörthersee, a festival that last year was visited by more than 125,000 people and gathered a total of 7,300 cars from various countries.
