BRAND PRESENTS NEW ENGINE WITH NATURAL GAS 1.5 TGI EVO WITH 130 HP
Efficiency has no limits, it is necessary to continually progress and make a difference to the competition. The German conglomerate Volkswagen is one of the most interested in delving deeper into this field, especially after seeing what caused the Dieselgate and what it continues to cause. But in the last edition of the Motor Symposium, which is traditionally celebrated every year in Vienna, Austria, the German manufacturer presented the new 1.5 TGI Evo engine of the EA211 series powered by CNG, an internal code specially designed for thrusters specially developed for based on the MQB modular platform. This new engine is based on the 1.5 TSI ACT BlueMotion petrol engine, which equips the Golf and Golf Variant line, among others, offering a maximum power of 130 hp thanks to a direct injection system combined with the TSI / TGI combustion process Miller and a new state-of-the-art variable geometry turbocharger producing a maximum torque of 200 Nm from 1,400 to 4,500 rpm.The performance of the new natural gas vehicle engine offers an average consumption of 3.5 kilos per 100 kilometers - with DSG automatic transmission - with a maximum autonomy of 490 kilometers, a number that can be increased by 190 kilometers more, measured numbers according to the current NEDC cycle. In case it is necessary to activate the gasoline mode, a change is produced automatically and almost imperceptible for the passengers.Volkswagen makes clear that this new engine will further increase the supply of natural gas powered models, which offer greater efficiency without generating particulate emissions. In addition, the new TGI Evo 1.5 propeller is also designed to work with e-gas, a synthetic fuel developed by Audi based on methane obtained from wind, solar, hydroelectric and biomass power generation processes.
Currently, Volkswagen and SEAT already offer a version fueled with natural gas with the 1.0-liter TGI engine, which develops 90 hp of maximum power, and is available both in the Polo and Golf as in the new SEAT Ibiza, an engine that was presented at the same event in Vienna last year and a fuel that, on the German market, already accumulates a large number of licensed vehicles.
