BRAND GET THE PRODUCTION OF YOUR NEW HYDROGEN MOVED BUS
Revealed shortly before the celebration of the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, the Toyota SORA Concept was the advance of Toyota's new bus model to the city of Tokyo, but unlike the existing models, it feeds on hydrogen, so it's about of a zero emission vehicle.Only a few months after its presentation in the Japanese capital, the brand began production of the model, and although for the moment there are no images of the production version, we understand that it will be identical to the concept revealed in Tokyo, which is what appears in the images.
For the time being, the model will only be manufactured in a very low volume, since it will be destined only to the metropolitan area of the city of Tokyo, and the reason is none other that the next celebration of Olympic Games of 2020 that will happen in that city. Only 100 copies will be manufactured, which will be delivered gradually from today to 2020.
Its denomination is to reflect the water cycle, because SORA is the acronym for 'Sky, Ocean, River and Air', the driving motif of all Toyota designs related to Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology.The SORA has a length of 10.52 meters and is capable of accommodating up to 78 passengers, as well as the driver himself, of whom 22 may be seated and 56 standing. In technical terms it has the same technology as the Toyota Mirai, it has two electric motors of 155 hp (114 kW) that receive the electricity generated by 2 cells of hydrogen fuel.
Their NiMH batteries are 235 kWh and can be used as an auxiliary power source in case of an emergency or natural disaster, and their hydrogen tanks are capable of storing up to 600 liters of this fuel.
