The health benefits of conducting an electric model

The electrified vehicles, be they hybrid or totally electric models, are increasingly a bet of the brands. A natural step in a society that is gradually more awake, attentive and concerned about the environment. However, the great contributions do not stop here, as this change is also reflected in direct benefits for those who lead, even if at first glance these may go unnoticed. Specifically, we talk about the differences in sensations between driving an electric vehicle versus a conventional model. According to a study by LEVC - manufacturer of classic London cabs, Black Cab - in conjunction with York University, there are several benefits that an electric vehicle has for the driver compared to a conventional model. The study of the LEVC and the University of York involved four participants, who were at the wheel of London taxis in both electric and diesel variants. They performed a same course through the city of London with each one, and their reactions were recorded through electroencephalography, which allowed to gauge the various states of brain activity during driving.

One of the conclusions of the study is that drivers of electric taxis are more focused on driving, compared to when driving in a diesel. While driving at the wheel, the drivers of an electric cab are quieter than a diesel cab, with fewer heart rate variations, but the biggest difference between a Black Cab diesel driver and an electric cab is that the latter circulate much happier, as a result of being less stressed and less distracted at the wheel of an electric cab and a greater mental calm, reports the study.

According to Chris Gubbey, CEO of LEVC: "Since taxi drivers spend more than 12 hours a day driving, the car is their office. So we have a duty to be concerned about providing them with the best working environment - and this study has shown that driving our electric taxis has a clear benefit for mental well-being. "From Dr. Duncan Williams' point of view: "This study proved extremely interesting. All the drivers said they were calm, less stressed and happy in an electric cab than the old diesel ones. "

In this sense, Dr. Duncan Williams synthesizes the result of the study: "What does this mean? Well, the study suggests that a quieter driving environment allows taxi drivers to be mentally more focused. In other words, by removing the noisy working of the diesel engine, they are perhaps more available to be focused on driving, but in a calm way. It's a fascinating result, and given the current trend for commercial electric vehicles, it shows that there are even more benefits to going in an electric model than we might have previously thought.
