SUPERB COMBI'S EXCLUSIVE VERSION
Skoda has developed in the United Kingdom an exclusive and safe armored version of the Skoda Superb Combi. The British subsidiary of the Czech manufacturer took three years to finalize the project that appears in the images and in the video below. The truth is that at first glance there are only details that let you sense that we are not facing a conventional Skoda Superb Combi. Although the truth is that the excessive price of this armored car justifies all the modifications that were made.Taking as its starting point the Skoda Superb car body version, the engineers of the Czech brand equipped the vehicle with the necessary protection so that its occupants could protect themselves from shots and / or explosions. Firstly, conventional glasses have been replaced by other bullet resistant ones. Exterior steel panels now offer greater protection thanks to the combination of composite materials and high strength steel.
Skoda points out that despite being an armored car, the Superb Combi has lost none of its practicality and remains as spacious as a conventional unit. It even highlights that it has a trunk that accommodates the same volume of cargo. The suspension and brakes have been modified to operate even if the tires have been blown out by a trip or explosion. In addition, the suspension itself has also been adapted to withstand considerable weight gain.In relation to the interior, Skoda revealed an image of the armored Superb Combi cabin where we can see different controls to activate and handle different sets of emergency lights and sirens. It also has an 8.0-inch touchscreen to use the infotainment system with GPS navigator, which offers compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
As for the mechanical part, under its hood is a 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine of 190 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. In order to comply with the PAS 300 standard, the car had to undergo an independent test involving the firing of different types of calipers and at the same time exposed to several external 'threats', such as machine gun explosions and impact. The armored Skoda Superb Combi will go on sale in the UK from £ 118,688 (£ 591,600). It will cost more than a Porsche 911 Carrera.
