VW Saveiro Rocket of the year 2010 had 1.4 turbo TSI engine
The Saveiro Rocket project started with the realization that many users of compact pickup trucks saw their cars as two-seater sports vehicles. Starting from this premise, the idea was to reinforce this trend in all possible ways: outside, in the cabin and in the mechanical part.At the front, the top grille was painted in high gloss black, while the underside of the bumper was painted in frosted Spectra gray, dominated by a broad hive-shaped grille and underlined in red by a beveled applique. The headlights had xenon lamps and automatic scrubbers, while the cleaners were aerowishers (the famous "wheel"), still a novelty at the time.
It was on the side, however, that Rocket was more differentiated. It came with a sanantano integrated to the silhouette of the body, to create the effect of coupe, and the bucket was covered by a rigid lid with opening by electrical command. To conclude, there was black aerofoil at the end of the body and shark antenna on the roof.
Inside, the sports pickup truck came with Alcantara leather shell-type seats of the Golf R32. On the other hand, the gear knob was the Golf GTI, while the leather steering wheel had red stitching. It also had multimedia center and stylized air vents.
To accompany the 1.4-turbo engine, Rocket had the lowered suspension (36 mm at the front and 60 mm at the rear) and received larger brake discs, with 312 mm at the front and 256 mm at the rear. A pity that, at the time of the Salon 2010, VW made it clear that the truck would not reach the stores. "Creating a dream car for exposure, as we have done now, is a fantastic job for everyone involved: without having to worry about details like manufacturing costs, deadlines and budget limits, you can let go of the imagination and turn things into reality which, in a car of the line, would not be viable, "explained the designer Veiga in the presentation of the model.
