The New York 2018 Motor Show was the event chosen by Acura, the premium division of Honda, to reveal the definitive version of the Acura RDX 2019, having previously introduced it in Detroit in prototype format, customary in the presentations of the brand. As expected, the new model does not seem to differ from the previous prototype, which in reality was only a pre-production version of the model. A usual practice of the Japanese brand.Only smaller elements that differ between the two models, such as the rear-view mirrors and the bottom-grid design, can be found. Incidentally, the new RDX is identical to the RDX Prototype that was shown in January.

The new RDX is a strong bet of the Japanese brand, because this generation will have a brand new platform, which according to the brand, uses up to 50% of high strength steels, and does not share with any Honda model, as was customary until now. In relation to its measures, the new generation is longer and has wider axes. The wheelbase was also increased by 6.35 cm.This generation loses the previous V6 engine and gets a new 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged that delivers few cv less, 275 hp compared to the 283 hp that produced the V6 but now with 380 Nm of maximum torque at only 1,600 rpm, 38 Nm more than the V6, and with a noticeably lower consumption.

This engine is coupled to a new 10-speed automatic transmission, specially calibrated to extract all possible power from the turbocharged propeller. The RDX 2019 has 4 modes of driving (Snow, Comfort, Sport and Sport +) and optionally can count on the total traction system with the torque vector Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.Once presented, the new Acura RDX 2019 will reach dealers before the end of this year, although for the time being has not been revealed the exact date. What has been confirmed is that it will feature a future sports version 'A-Spec', like other models in the line.
