AUTONEWS-EXCLUSIVE
A few days ago Ford surprised with a series of news related to its next family of all-terrain, which will include in its catalog, after a long absence, the Ford Bronco. In addition, the American manufacturer has released a first draft of a new SUV for segment B, which will be situated below the new Bronco. This new crossover will likely be the model that will eventually replace the current Ford EcoSport, a crossover designed in Brazil for Latin American markets but never able to meet sales forecasts in the European market. Despite having been recently renovated, the current EcoSport generation has already been in the market for six years and is now close to completing the last stage of its commercial life.
Ford has already started the development of the model that will replace the current EcoSport, which will once again lay the foundation of the Ford Fiesta. The first development units were already photographed while conducting tests in the Arctic Circle, and the first test mule picked up by Autoevolution photographers wore a visibly modified Fiesta bodywork with a modified rear, raised suspension and wider wheel arches than could not hide that underneath the body hides the new generation of the smallest Ford off-road.So far, there is no official information on this new model, in addition to that first draft that Ford revealed a few days ago, indicating that this possible substitute of the current EcoSport may use a more classic exterior design format to try, like the Bronco, to fight with the Jeep line.
Anyway, its development has started recently, and over the next 18 months there will certainly be a lot of news about this new SUV for the B segment, which is expected to hit the market in 2020.
