The most 'sporty' version of the Cupra

At the end of last year we commented here that SEAT wanted to introduce the Cupra R version in the SEAT León turbo truck. The Spanish compact premiered in 2017 this limited edition that offered a plus of exclusivity and aggressiveness. Concepts that were transferred to the new SEAT Leon ST Cupra R. Its launch coincides with the announcement of the first Cupra model as an independent sub-brand of SEAT, the Cupra Ateca.It is curious that the Spanish brand decided to introduce this model with the SEAT emblem and have not made it with the newly-released Cupra. Maybe it's a goodbye to the Cupra versions within the SEAT line, time will tell. Anyway, the new SEAT León ST Cupra R and the aforementioned Cupra Ateca will be present at the imminent Geneva Motor Show 2018 at the beginning of next March.



Aesthetically the new León ST Cupra R presents no surprises. It shows the same characteristic features of the León Cupra R. The most notable difference is that it is the body version ST (Perua). The exterior stands out by the combination of the color Gray Pyrenees Fosco with several details in the copper color. The body also features some carbon fiber elements and the 19-inch alloy wheels do not go unnoticed.

If we take a look at its cockpit, it will quickly become clear that we are facing a conventional ST Cupra Lion. Details such as the laser-inscribed inscription on the center console refer to this exclusive edition. Bucket seats, Alcantara upholstery and copper color finishes, as well as upholstery in a carbon fiber-like design, help create an atmosphere of high performance and sportiness.In mechanical terms, the SEAT León ST Cupra R conceals under its hood a TSI 2.0-liter petrol engine with 300 hp and 380 Nm of maximum torque, coupled with a DSG dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission, as well as a 4Drive all-wheel drive system. Thanks to this mechanics, you can reach a top speed of 250 km / h.After its passage by the Hall of Geneva 2018, will have to wait until the end of this year so that its commercialization begins. Considering that the production of the SEAT León Cupra R has been limited to 799 units, it is expected that with the León ST Cupra R the same will occur.
