Honda S2000 without successor

The production of the Honda S2000 was discontinued in 2009, since it has been speculated on the possibility of a possible successor, according to recent information, it seems that the project will not materialize.
The car market has changed a lot in the last 9 years, SUVs and crossovers are now the most sought-after and most profitable models for builders. According to Hayato Mori, Director of Product Planning for Honda Canada, the Honda S2000 will not have a successor. Mori said that this is due to the preference of consumers of the Japanese brand, who mostly look for SUVs and consider a roadster like the S2000 an impractical car.

Honda then bets on models more suitable for day-to-day use like the Civic Type-R in response to those seeking power and high performance. The hypothesis of developing a roadster like the S2000 continues to be disregarded due to the cost of production and the reduced demand.
