Haas surprises and is first to present first car for season 2018

Resolved the doubt why Haas did not announce the launch date of the new car for the 2018 season. The presentation of the VF-18 was made by surprise in the early afternoon of this Wednesday (14) by social networks and through of an official communiqué.
The absence of the shark fin and the entrance to the Halo are the big differences of the car. Incidentally, this is the first car actually introduced with the new cockpit protection designed as a natural part of the car. For the first time the Halo does not look so visually aggressive.
According to Haas, the intention was a major aerodynamic evolution that would erase the difficulties that hammered the North American team during the 2017 campaign. Haas' biggest challenge for the upcoming season is to stabilize performance, which in the first two years of the team ranged too much between races.

"We took a lot of the variables that we knew were weak. We focused on what will make our car more consistent and decrease the distance to the top teams," said owner Gene Haas.
The VF-18 takes to the track for the first time in Barcelona on February 26, when the pre-season collective tests begin in Barcelona. The season begins in late March in Austrália.
