THE NEW SILVERADO 2019 LINE
Chevrolet unveiled the new 2019 line of the Silverado 1500. In an event prior to the opening of the 2018 Detroit Motor Show, GM's division presented all the images and the first details of the new line of its full size pickup. This is a totally new generation that, in addition, takes a very important technological leap forward from its predecessors. In order to be able to fight with the renewed Ford F-150, the engineers of General Motors promoted a considerable evolution in the line Silverado, that now presents innovations in all its aspects, from the own chassis to the composition of the line. His design was already known, as in December Chevrolet had already revealed the model during the centennial celebration of the brand's pick-up line in Dallas. At one point appeared a huge cargo helicopter that hung the first copy of the model, corresponding to the new version Silverado Trailboss 2019.By its design, the Silverado distances itself of its competitors, who still use a very traditional image and with great headlights, whereas the new Silverado counts on reduced headlights to the minimum expression. However, its lines remain a clear evolution of its predecessors. Inside, there is a very similar design, but just as expected, with better materials and finishes available, and a catalog of reinforced equipment.
Not only is the new Silverado bigger and stiffer, it's also lighter. In response to the massive use of aluminum by the current generation of Ford pickups, Chevrolet's have extensively used materials such as high strength steels and aluminum. Although conventional steel was still used for some areas, such as the side panels of the rear bucket and some elements of the chassis, the rest of the chassis and body elements are made of two types of high strength steel and aluminum. The chassis members themselves are made of high strength steel and only a few spars and reinforcements have been made from ordinary steel. The rest of the structure and the bodywork use high strength steels, in addition to aluminum, which can be found on the hood, doors and rear cover, as well as some internal reinforcements. The result is a total length of 41 mm longer and an inter-axle distance 100 mm wider than its predecessor. Still, the rigidity has increased by 10% and the weight decreases by 204 pounds. Only with the use of the aluminum in the doors, bonnet and cover of the bucket were saved 40 kilos. The brand for now only offered an advance of the line and the different versions that will compose it, but already know some of the main novelties, as the own version Silverado LT Trailboss, that arrives equipped with the optional package Z71 that includes suspension elevated, rear differential, metal protectors on the lower parts, and 18-inch wheels with Goodyear Duratrac tires that suggest an off-road alternative. Also new is the new RST version, also based on the LT version, which includes LED lighting and huge 22-inch wheels for those customers looking for a more urban finish and better behavior on the asphalt. In total there will be 8 finishing versions available, plus the different body versions, two and four doors for the 3 available interiors, as well as the mechanical part, which has also undergone a major renovation.Chevrolet announced that between engines and transmissions there will be a total of 6 possible combinations including 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engines as well as a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel. The last two will feature the new 10-speed automatic transmission and Start & Stop system, in addition, the V8 engines will feature a cylinder deactivation system to increase fuel efficiency.
