THOR TRUCKS
A NEW 100% ELECTRIC TRUCK PROPOSAL
In recent times have appeared numerous American companies that have decided to take advantage of the growth of the market of electric battery trucks. In addition to the new Tesla Semi, a proposal of one of the brands that is a reference in electric mobility, other trucks with this type of propulsion appear that will soon reach the roads of the United States. The latest proposal comes via Thor Trucks, which borrowed the name of the well-known Nordic god, and decided to enter the race to offer its electric truck to the market. His proposal was named ET-One and we can already take a look at the first images that were released, as well as the data provided by the American start-up.Thor Trucks was founded by the entrepreneur Dakota Semler and currently has a total of 18 employees. Among them are former employees of other companies in the sector, such as BYD and Faraday Future. He also has Boeing, Navistar and the US Hybrid on his squad. The new ET-One is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack supplied by LG Chem, which are mounted on both sides of the chassis. Thor Trucks plans to offer a line of two versions, the top-of-the-line option being the most comparable, in terms of autonomy and performance, to the Tesla truck. The ET-One will have a capacity of approximately 36 tons.
Aesthetically, the front design of the ET-One is dominated by an impressive semicircular grid and LED technology headlights. Its smoothed forms and flowing lines denote that the aerodynamics was much worked. However, if we take a look inside, a more traditional passenger compartment appears, just look at the steering wheel. And of course, the digital dashboard and the huge screen for the infotainment system could not be missing.
Mechanically there are not many details that we can highlight. The company simply said that the line access version will offer an autonomy of approximately 161 kilometers, but there will be a superior option that will increase that number to 483 kilometers.
The commercial launch of the ET-One is scheduled for the end of next year, however, Thor Trucks will not start production before 2019. Prices will start at $ 150,000 for the 161-kilometer version and $ 250,000 for the 483 km.
