WORKHORSE
A NEW ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR URBAN DELIVERIES
Workhorse is a manufacturer of commercial vehicles that has recently gained some fame among the community of lovers of sustainable and electric mobility thanks to some of its latest models like the W-15 PHEV, an electric pickup with autonomy extender. Now, the company based in the state of Ohio (USA), takes one step further and puts the spotlight on the urban delivery of the future. This is the new Workhorse N-Gen.Although not a production version, it is the latest concept version of Workhorse for an urban freight delivery vehicle.
One of the great news presented by the new N-Gen compared to previous versions is that it benefits from a drone for package delivery. This, coupled with its 100% electric mechanics, achieves a very interesting combination.According to data released by the company, the Workhorse N-Gen has a range of 160 kilometers on a single charge. In addition, it can be optionally equipped with an extension of autonomy that will increase the autonomy up to 280 kilometers. Stephen Burns, CEO of Workhorse, commented: "The new N-Gen platform represents the future of urban delivery. With the agreements reached, we can test the N-Gen in several cities in the United States. "

We are faced with a vehicle exclusively aimed at the commercial fleet market. The dimensions of the Workhorse N-Gen maximize the load space and facilitate the use of the driver, as well as the access / exit of the load zone. In addition, it is equipped with a Workhorse Metron telematic system, which can track all parameters of the van and drone in real time to optimize its performance and efficiency.
It is expected that the production version of Workhorse N-Gen will become a reality by the end of next year 2018. The company plans to introduce different versions, some of them larger and others oriented to a certain service, such as municipal use and telecommunications.
The drone, called HorseFly, will be optionally integrated. It is made of carbon fiber and can carry packages weighing up to 4.5 kilograms. The unmanned aerial vehicle can carry out the packages as long as it is in the driver's view.
