Toyota Corolla GTI to be unveiled at Tokyo Motor Show
According to the website Car and Driver, a rumor reported in Japanese press reports that Toyota will unveil the upcoming Corolla GTI and a new version of the S-FR prototype at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. The Japanese brand will also present the new Supra and two luxury saloons.If the rumors come true we will get to know the design of the next generation Corolla. The GTI version should be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing 250 horsepower. Toyota has not revealed much information about the new vehicle, but it is known to be produced based on the TNGA platform, such as the C-HR and the Prius.Regarding the S-FR prototype, there is no certainty as to how it will be different from the previous version. The original S-FR is a small sports coupé with front engine and rear-wheel drive. Its rounded design invokes the Toyota Sports 800, a 1960s model.
While the presentation of the new Toyota Corolla GTI and the latest S-FR are just rumors, the debut of the new Supra is expected to be one of the highlights of the Tokyo Motor Show. According to an internal document the production version will be available with BMW engines in addition to the Toyota offerings.Toyota will be presenting two new luxury sedans for the Japanese market, the latest version of the Toyota Century and a prototype of the next generation of Crown.
