A NEW HYDROGEN BUS WILL BE SHOWN IN TOKYO
Among the many prototypes that Toyota will present at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, which starts in a week, there will be one that will stand out and for a very simple reason, it is huge. The Japanese brand has revealed the first images and data of the Toyota Sora Fuel Cell Concept, a bus powered by the brand's hydrogen fuel cell technology, and which advances the bus model, which with more than a hundred units, will travel by Japanese capital on the occasion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
His name is an ecologist, since Sora is the initials of the words 'Sky, Ocean, River and Air', in a clear allusion to the water cycle. A recurring theme in presentations of Toyota's Fuel Cell technology, which seeks to emphasize the eco-sustainable character of this technology.
At the exterior level, the designers of the brand tried to provide the Sora with very smooth lines, in an attempt to soften the visual weight of the huge box that is an urban bus, which in Sora's case with its fairing wheels, sharpens even more that sensation .
Its fuel cell system has 10 pressurized hydrogen tanks, and is capable of accommodating up to 79 people, 22 of whom are seated. It has up to 8 high-definition cameras, between the interior and exterior, to capture everything that happens around the vehicle. Its exterior lighting system is LED technology. One of the most intelligent systems to debut is the automatic arrival control, which, by reading the route line, automatically stops the bus at a distance of 3 to 6 centimeters from the stop, thus allowing better access to passengers. Reduced mobility.
