BMW

LOWRIDE BIKE MAG

When the BMW R Nine T was being designed the engineers and designers of BMW made with that it was easily changed. And this characteristic has become a fundamental element of the model for all preparers. This preparation carried out by the Italians of LowRide Magazine elevates this characteristic to the extreme and establishes new parameters in terms of minimalism and final aesthetic result.
The modular nature of the BMW R Nine T actually promotes the designers' imagination but this performance could hardly be imagined by any fan of the model. A team of Italian coaches led by Giuseppe Roncen of Lowride Magazine developed and executed this fantastic project sponsored by BMW Motorrad Italy.

Virtually everything was changed and only the original picture was maintained. According to Giuseppe despite everything the BMW R Nine T retains the technological sophistication of the original model. The bike is designed with the aim of being only for exposure but retains all the safety and original features to run on the road.
The escape curves are the originals and only the tips have been changed. Some power has been lost due to having eliminated the original air box but the bike is still very easy and smooth to drive. With the elimination of the air box it was possible to manufacture a monocoque structure that is fixed precisely in the same points of the frame, allowing to eliminate the reinforcements of the sub-frame since the structure placed is self-supporting.

All the work of the aluminum parts was made by hand and specifically for this model. No molds were made and all parts are unique to this bike, which testifies to the extreme capacity and ability of Metalbike Garage. The aluminum parts were later polished and partially painted. They are subsequently decorated with gold friezes and BMW brass emblems.
The original hairdressing was fully maintained except for the extensions for the blinkers that had to be adapted. The seat is collapsible and exposes the battery case so the bike is fully functional.

Even the LCD display maintains the same features of the original although more adapted to the style of the motorcycle. Integrated in the monocoque is also the fuel tank, manufactured by hand and with practically half the width of the original which provides greater prominence and evidence of the boxer engine.
The aesthetics of the engine are the responsibility of the Rhizome and the head and alternator covers are your responsibility, as well as the pans, the mirrors, the flashers, and the protection of the reservoirs of brake fluid.
The engine was also overhauled and fitted with new pistons and shirts having also increased the compression ratio, changed the intake and mounted different camshafts giving a significant extra power to the original boxer engine. Of course the engine maps were also changed so that the modifications could have the maximum result in terms of engine performance. In the bank 130CV were measured, almost 20 more than the originals.

Rimmed wheel rims, made up of five different sections, were treated with a special resin so that tubeless tires could be used, with the valves hidden in the wheel hubs themselves.
They arrived to realize Drag races with the R Nine T having even surpassed a version with engine turbo boxer that aligned in the competition being later eliminated by a Moto Guzi with system "Nitro".
The first revelation of Giuseppe's BMW R Nine T was during a BMW event in Monza and it caught the attention of brand managers who soon invited it to be presented at the EICMA Salon in Milan in 2016 and was the only custom present at the BMW.
