PENTA LAUNCHES D13-1000, MARKER'S MOST POWERFUL MARK

Volvo Penta launches at the São Paulo Boat Show the brand's most powerful leisure marine engine, the D13-1000. The new model is part of a brand strategy to expand its line of engines to meet medium and large size ships. With 13 liters and 1,000 hp of power, the new engine offers exceptional quality and performance for navigation.
"This launch increases our competitiveness in the Brazilian market as we enter a segment where Volvo Penta was not present. From now on, we offer customers the ability to equip larger vessels with the brand's engines and propulsion systems, "says Emerson Baptista, director of marine engines at Volvo Penta South America.
The launch of the new model meets a demand from the brand's own customers, from engines and high-performance IPS propulsion systems to high-standard craft.

Volvo Penta has made a number of improvements to the 13-liter engine and related propulsion systems to offer a standout product. The model received new pistons, high-efficiency injectors and improved cooling systems. Combined, these new items offer an 11% power gain over previous engines. The optimized power-to-weight ratio and excellent torque in the low-rev range of the D13-1000 provide an unbelievable level of on-demand power, which gives premium boat owners the ability to navigate faster and go further."These are characteristics that allow owners of high-grade boats to navigate at higher speeds without the need for constant stops for refueling," Baptista points out.The engineering excellence and attention to detail of the design ensure the engine superior performance, comfort and reliability, and is in line with the concept of 'Easy Boating' or 'ease of navigation' of the brand.

New Project
The IPS30 pod has been updated to ensure its perfect fit to the new D13 engine design. Overall, these enhancements leave the pod cleaner, more robust, and able to work in a higher speed range, while maintaining the compact dimensions of today's IPS propulsion systems. For a motor that can travel longer distances and navigate faster, a stronger and more durable IPS was needed. The upgraded IPS30 withstands the high power of the new engine and allows vessels to reach speeds of up to 42 knots. Another advantage is that, because it is cleaner, it requires less maintenance. The IPS30 pod and its coordination with
13 liter engine provides for the production of the integrated package D13-IPS1350. The 1350 represents the equivalent power produced by the unit, compared to a traditional center-engine installation. The package is a complete propeller tiller system with an environmentally advanced design with two forward-facing propellers rotating in reverse directions and positioned under the hull for increased traction. The unique design, with pods individually addressable and connected with the Joystick Docking function, provides precision maneuvers. The IPS package provides a reduction of up to 30% in fuel consumption - compared to center engine systems - with acceleration up to 15% faster and final speed 20% higher; the noise and vibration levels are reduced by up to 50%. IPS packages can be installed in configurations with two, three or four motors, and in the latter option, the power generated is equivalent to 5,400 hp.
