HEAVY TIPPER ARRIVES AS COMPLETE SOLUTION FOR MINING
New solution is presented with reheating purchases of trucks for mining; line offers two models and creates 40 tonne nicheScania launches the Heavy Tipper for the global and domestic market, designed to meet the most stringent mining demands. Produced with more robust components, the new model carries up to 25% more net load compared to the current ones and offers customized services to the customer to obtain an increasingly profitable operation. Highlights include the new swap system, connectivity and maintenance programs."The Scania Heavy Tipper comes in a perfect period of resumption of the short and medium term purchase of trucks for mining. Since 2013, this market has not given concrete signs of being a buyer again, "says Fabricio Vieira, Scania's Mining Manager in Brazil. "The Brazilian customer has been asking for a package of vehicles and services that is even more profitable to contribute to the reduction of operating costs. The Heavy Tipper accomplishes this desire, so it is the ideal solution. "According to Vieira, there is another virtuous component to the launch business strategy. There has been a major movement from truck purchases to mining between 2011 and 2012. Generally, the life of the vehicles in activities for the sector is three years. "That is, the average age of this fleet is very high and, consequently, with a high operating cost. We are talking about a potential for renewal of at least 1,000 dammed units. "

Scania aims to conquer 45% of the segmentCurrently, the Swedish manufacturer owns 33% of the mining market. With the launch of the Heavy Tipper, the company projects a 12% increase in sales. "The new products and their solutions, quickly, will have their advantages perceived by the customer. We aim to increase participation to 45%. The market will be surprised by this news, "he says.Total economy of an operation may be R $ 2.5 millionThe Scania Heavy Tipper brings more robust components developed to meet the most severe applications. The new line jumps from the current 32 tonnes of net cargo to at least 40 tonnes of capacity or 25% higher. In this way, the total gross weight (PBT) jumps to insuperable 58 t. "Competitors offer a maximum of 32 tonnes and 48 tonnes of PBT. We are innovating the market once again, and creating a niche, "says the manager. In addition, compared to the current Scania line for mining, it reduces the cost per tonne transported by up to 15%, increases its operating life by 30% (about one year more work, with three average life of current market options), increases fleet availability by up to 5% and can provide up to 10% fuel economy per tonne transported. All coupled with the package of services offered with driver training, part exchange system, connectivity and maintenance programs specially developed for the segment.A real-life simulation can better measure total cost optimization. The example will be a miner that generates 5 million tons of ore per year in a 40-minute production cycle and currently uses 20 trucks to move this material, each with the current market capacity of 32 t of net cargo. "If this miner had a Scania Heavy Tipper it would produce the same amount with two less trucks," Vieira explains. "Taking into account all the percentage indices quoted, the reduction of the purchase of two trucks, a year of work of the new model and the lowest operating cost, the economy could reach R$ 2.5 million at the end of the useful life of this fleet. "

Optimizations to revolutionize the market
Among the benefits of the launch are an increase of up to 5% in operational availability and an additional 5,000 hours of life - reducing the cost of operation throughout the product life cycle and increasing the residual value. The product innovations are bogie (36 t) and axles (directional 11 t) with the highest load capacity of the segment, greater robustness of the new differential (+ 40%) and of the hub reducer with different final relations (5,13 , 6.43 and 7.63), which allow a maximum tensile capacity (CMT) of up to 210 tonnes (the largest on the market). In addition to the new gearbox GRSO935, superior resistance           (+ 40%), with faster and smoother changes. To meet the new load demand, the entire suspension (parabolic springs, stabilizer bars and shock absorbers) has been changed and is even more vigorous; and Scania will also offer tires with greater breadth of volume (standard 5,550 kg per unit and optional 6,000 kg). On the other hand, to ensure the necessary safety during operation, the steering system has become more robust and the brake has been reinforced in the system for better braking performance.Complete the standard items, 100% automated 14-speed Opticruise transmission (offering Off Road mode allowing the propeller to rotate at wider speeds), Scania Retarder auxiliary hydraulic brake (with braking power of 4,100 Nm), 261 kW, traction control, hill-hold (support system that guards the vehicle on slopes, preventing it from retreating at the moment of exit), rear axle with double differential and angle of attack of 29º.

Complete and segmented services
For the customer to get the pinnacle of return with Scania Services, the brand offers a broad portfolio of support for mining. The options include maintenance in the most remote places and customized solutions for the operation in the own mine, dedicated mechanics, management and physical structure of workshop. Fleet management, technical training of drivers, exchange system, maintenance programs, technical assistance, interval of customized maintenance, system of diagnosis and programming, Scania Oil and reformer are also available.

New and exclusive parts exchange system
For the new Heavy Tipper range, as well as the current line of trucks dedicated to mining, the manufacturer offers the new Scania Exchanging System, exclusive to the segment, with more items available and the same guarantee of a new part. Among the innovations incorporated are transmission, retarder, planetary and differential.Scania's original range of remanufactured parts ensures the same quality as the new ones in a more economical takeover option (the average can reach 50%) and fast to keep the vehicle operating.

Connectivity for mining

Scania Connected Services are also available for the Heavy Tipper. For those who purchase the vehicle, the Performance package for one year will be included for free. The version incorporates the benefits of the inbound package and allows detailed reading and identification of operation data for both vehicle information and individual driver information. The customer will also have the Fleet Manager developed by a mining specialist, which aims to increase the availability and reliability of vehicles and reduce operating costs. Service planning is done to ensure that maintenance and repairs are done at the optimum time and with the minimum of disruption. The service is so advanced that it can even indicate whether a driver needs to be trained or reoriented at specific points such as reduced fuel consumption with a considerable reduction in idle periods or unnecessary gear shifts.

Ideal maintenance programs for the segment

Mining customers also have five Scania maintenance schedules (PMS) available for optimal performance at maximum economy. For each client, there will be a complete study of their needs in order to customize the program. The five categories of PMS are Premium, More, Powertrain, Standard and Compact, ranging from preventive to complete maintenance.

Scania: history of pioneering mining
The evolution proposed by Scania, with its heavy trucks, but which in the sector are considered of light category (because there is the yellow line - larger vehicles and load capacity), becomes another landmark of manufacturer innovations for severe operations and confined.
In 1999, Scania brought the first 8 × 4 truck on the market to Brazil. Already in 2010, another pioneer with the launch of the traction 10 × 4. The company was also the first to modernize service in the services sector by building a concessionaire branch in a mine (to streamline the entire process), creating a customized maintenance program, and placing in the confined operation a parts container and tools.
