Autonomous drones already deliver coffee in Switzerland
On Wednesday, the first successful delivery of coffee by an independent drone in Zurich, Switzerland, was successfully tested. TechCrunch says that the system still does not put aside the human element (still need to remove the coffee from the drone) but it shows well the potential of the concept.Three different companies were required for this initiative. The parent company of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, has contributed the gps capable of emitting GPS signal and serve as landing points for the drones. Flying equipment, on the other hand, was provided by Matternet, a logistics company specializing in drones that was in charge of ensuring the transportation of the coffees of the e-commerce startup Siroop. The initiative will be in force in Zurich in the next three weeks. The drones in question are able to carry a weight of 2 kilos and fly at a height of 20 kilometers, reaching a top speed of 70km/h.
