What will the tires look like in the future?

Goodyear Eagle 360 Urban: is the example of a smart and connected tire and was presented at the last Geneva Motor Show. In the background, it is a sphere printed in 3D and was the first tire prototype animated by Artificial Intelligence and capable of feeling, deciding, transforming and interacting. Composed of a bionic skin with a network of sensors, these allow the prototype to prove its own state and compile information about the surrounding environment, including the road surface. Its main features are: to continuously feel the conditions of the road and the surrounding environment in real time and to verify its own state in real time; process the information gathered to decide what to do and learn for future situations; transform themselves using their own mutant floor and the tire / vehicle interface; interact with other vehicles and all the elements that make up the internet to share the information you gathered and the lessons learned.

Goodyear IntelliGrip Urban: is the prototype of the brand for the future generation of shared, electric and standalone vehicles in urban areas. An intelligent tire, designed to support autonomous vehicle control systems and increase passenger safety. The prototype tire feels the road and weather conditions, gathering the information and transmitting it to the computer system of the vehicle. This allows the car to optimize speed, braking, maneuverability and stability.

Michelin Vision: is a tire concept that does not need air or ever to be changed, being printed on a 3D printer. Its composition is with biodegradable materials. How much it wears just put new layers. In this tire there are no wheels, the structure itself, which is flexible, supports the vehicle. In a practical application in the future, the surface of the tire would be printed through 3D printers directly in these, and the pattern can be chosen. Another possibility is the tread of the tire can be chosen to adapt to the type of floor.

Michelin Tweel: The concept is the junction of terms in English tire and wheel. The tire has no air and the connection between the wheel hub and its surface is ensured by flexible spokes, which function almost like a 'damper', absorbing the impacts and returning to their 'normal' state after them. The brand has several variants of this concept that is already used in vehicles such as golf carts.
