A tougher twist on the American SUV

The first SUV that went through the Ford Performance facility is already a reality. We had previously commented that the blue oval brand was considering introducing a vehicle with these characteristics into its ST family of models. Now, taking advantage of the celebration of the Detroit Motor Show 2018, the American brand presents the new Ford Edge ST.The well-known SUV of Ford has a sporty version that gives a more spicy touch to drivers looking for a car with these characteristics but who do not want to give up some level of performance on the road. But beyond the mechanical part, which has a huge relevance, we can not fail to mention the exterior and interior image of the new Edge ST.

Aesthetically, the ST version differs from any level of finish that makes up the Ford Edge line thanks to several specific elements. In addition to a body kit, it features 21-inch alloy wheels that reveal the red brake calipers, the ST emblems and a sport exhaust system with two outputs. All this combined with several chrome finishes and the blue tone used in the body, makes the result quite flashy.

In relation to the interior, the Ford Edge ST will also have several differentiating elements, such as seats with specific padding that show the acronyms ST. New plates have also been added on the doorstep where we can see the Ford Performance badge and a specific version of the infotainment system.In mechanical terms, the new Ford Edge ST conceals under its hood a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine modified by Ford Performance to deliver a power output of 340 hp and 515 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-drive system. The steering wheel has fins for the gearshift.Ford notes that the ST version of Edge has a specific upgrade. The suspension, throttle response and automatic transmission change times were subject to change. With all this, the model has been designed to offer a more sporting and fun driving experience.For now, Ford has not given more details about its performance, although it emphasizes that it is the most powerful V6 engine within its class.
