2026 Ford Bronco Wildtrak: extreme off-road capability
In the United States, where the automobile often acts as an extension of the territory – be it urban, desert, or mountainous – the Ford Motor Company keeps alive one of its most emblematic lineages: the Bronco. And in 2026, the brand decided to revive a name that, since its modern return in 2021, has become synonymous with extreme off-road capability: the Wildtrak.
But there is an important change in philosophy here. The 2026 Ford Bronco Wildtrak does not return as a standalone version, but as a special package based on the already robust Badlands configuration, concentrating in a single package everything that defines a true high-performance off-roader. It's as if Ford has refined the formula – eliminating excesses and bringing together, more precisely, the elements that really matter in off-road driving.
Under the hood, the Wildtrak assumes a clear and uncompromising identity: the 2.7L twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine, delivering around 330 hp and over 550 Nm of torque, always paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is no manual option, no smaller engine – just the most robust setup available within this model.
But it's off-road that the Wildtrak reveals its true nature. The package includes, as standard, the acclaimed Sasquatch Package, which transforms the Bronco into a machine ready for virtually any terrain. 35-inch tires, front and rear differentials with electronic locking, a shortened final drive ratio, and optimized geometry for off-road trails are part of the package.
The Wildtrak Package will be available exclusively on Bronco Badlands 4-door models. Purpose-built for rugged performance, Wildtrak now bundles the 330 horsepower 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission with the Sasquatch Off-Road Package, which also includes the HOSS 3.0 suspension featuring FOX™ internal bypass dampers. Wildtrak also upgrades Bronco style with the Black Appearance Package.
Beyond the return of the Wildtrak:
-Orange Fury: Expected late availability, Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat paint officially joins the Bronco lineup after originally being available for Ford Mustang.
-More Roof Options: Customers looking to customize their Bronco's profile can now select optional painted roof combinations on both the Outer Banks and high-performance Raptor models.
-Enhanced Convenience: Ford is also adding the popular SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, giving owners a secure and easy way to access their vehicle during outdoor adventures without needing their keys.
In addition to these updates, Ford and onX, a leader in outdoor digital navigation, are collaborating to give eligible Ford owners, including Bronco, the tech they need to explore by giving complimentary access to the onX suite of apps for one year. This suite can help them get outside and fully utilize their vehicle’s off-road capability.
Bronco owners who have taken delivery of a qualifying 2024 or newer Bronco are also eligible to attend Bronco Off-Roadeo. Included as a complimentary benefit with the purchase of a new qualifying Bronco, this professional driving experience allows owners to learn essential four-wheel drive techniques under the expert guidance of seasoned trail guides at one of five locations in the United States
Added to this is the sophisticated HOSS 3.0 suspension, equipped with FOX internal bypass shocks – a system that allows for impressively precise impact absorption, maintaining control even in extreme situations, such as high speeds on uneven terrain.
Visually, the 2026 Wildtrak also leaves its signature. The Black Appearance package adds a more aggressive character, with darkened elements and a more robust presence, reinforcing its adventurous vocation without resorting to aesthetic excesses.
Inside, the Bronco maintains its functional purpose, but without sacrificing technology. The terrain management system – the famous G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes – adjusts parameters such as traction, throttle response, and transmission behavior for different surfaces, allowing the vehicle to adapt naturally to sand, mud, rocks, or snow.
And perhaps it is precisely this versatility that defines the Wildtrak. It's not as extreme as the Bronco Raptor, nor as comfort-oriented as other versions in the line. It occupies a rare balance point – where real off-road capability meets everyday usability. A car that can traverse challenging trails on the weekend… and still cope with the daily routine during the week.
In short, the 2026 Ford Bronco Wildtrak is not just a return. It's a fine-tuning. A reaffirmation that, even in an increasingly digital and urban world, there is still room for machines that carry within them something more primitive – the desire to explore. And few names do this with as much authenticity as the Bronco.
