EICMA 2025

Aprilia SR GT 400

After the SR GT 125, an urban scooter currently on promotion through a new campaign by Aprilia's importer in Portugal, Officina Moto, conquered its space in the European two-wheeled market, the Noale-based company appeared at the EICMA Milan Motorcycle Show reinforced with a new, more robust variant, the SR GT 400.

This is Aprilia's big new offering for 2026 that we saw at EICMA: a scooter with an adventurous look for the city, for traveling, and even for off-road adventures, seeking to combine design with the character of the Italian brand.

The Aprilia SR GT 400 is an adventure-ready, performance-driven scooter built with true motorcycle DNA. This mid-size GT scooter features a 399cc SOHC 4-valve engine that produces 36 hp and 37.7 Nm of torque.

Built on a high-strength steel frame, the SR GT 400 is said to offer exceptional stability and agility, according to the company.

Braking performance is top-notch: a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, supported by Bosch dual-channel ABS with off-road settings and two-level adjustable traction control (ATC).

It comes with 16"/14" wheels, Mitas Enduro Trail tires, 190 mm ground clearance and a weight of just 186 kg.

The technology package includes a 5-inch TFT screen, keyless ignition and USB-C charging, and there is also a 12-liter tank for a range of over 300 km.

Aprilia's design center sought inspiration from the brand's sport models in order to create a mid-sized scooter that combines strong personality, dynamism, and attention to detail that truly impacts the SR GT 400's riding experience.

With a somewhat minimalist look, the new Italian scooter features the already traditional three-part headlight on the front fairing, a functional element thanks to its LED technology for improved lighting, but also a trademark of Aprilia in terms of its models. Above the headlight, we find a windshield with a 5-position adjustment system, with a 'floating' attachment for an off-road motorcycle-style look.

The SR GT 400's chassis was created by Aprilia engineers based on knowledge gained from the sportier models. This will allow this adventurous-looking scooter to guarantee dynamic sporty behavior. The frame is a double cradle type, made of high-strength steel.

Aprilia studied and ‘played’ with the positioning of the reinforcement tubes in order to optimize structural rigidity, so that, according to the brand, it optimizes steering precision, in what the driver feels, but also maximizes stability. An important point to highlight in the SR GT 400 chassis is the fact that it uses a smaller steering head angle, which also reduces trail. This results in increased maneuverability and agility.

Despite being a scooter, Aprilia intends for the SR GT 400 to have components that are commonly found in motorcycles.

The inverted front fork has 41 mm stanchions fixed by triple clamps. This fork gives the front wheel a maximum travel of 120 mm, with an adjustment that seeks to combine the necessary capacity to manage the most exaggerated movements in sporty riding with the management of impacts caused by uneven terrain, even off-road.

At the rear axle, we find a set of gas shock absorbers with an external reservoir, with the same 120 mm of travel, but adjustable for preload.

Equipped with a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, with a two-channel ABS system adjustable thanks to two operating maps, the SR GT 400 features alloy wheels, all resulting in a total weight of 186 kg.

To move this weight, Aprilia uses the 400 HPE Euro5+ engine from the Piaggio Group. This liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine can deliver a maximum power of 36 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.7 Nm at 5,700 rpm. Inside, we find components such as the connecting rod and piston with optimized weight, made of aluminum, in order to reduce inertial forces, vibrations and improve driving comfort, particularly giving the SR GT 400 greater smoothness at cruising speeds.

This 400 HPE engine also features the patented PCV – Positive Crankcase Ventilation system, also benefiting from a specific intake system and valve opening parameters exclusive to the SR GT 400.

The CVT transmission inverter cover was designed to reduce temperature thanks to a specific design, resulting in a lower transmission belt temperature. From an electronics point of view, the SR GT 400 has traction control that can be adjusted to two levels of intervention, and can also be switched off.

The parameters are adjusted via the 5-inch color TFT instrument panel, and optionally the owner can purchase the MIA multimedia platform that unlocks smartphone connectivity.

The SR GT 400 will arrive at Aprilia dealerships in Portugal in 2026 in the following color options:

– Rugged Black

– Boulder Grey

– Dusty Grey

There will also be a special variant called the SR GT 400 Rally Replica, which replicates the colors used on the winning Tuareg Rally from the Africa Eco Race. In this case, the scooter adopts a completely darkened fairing design with a matte finish, racing graphics, gold forks, and red spring shocks. It also has a dedicated seat, and the MIA multimedia platform is part of the standard equipment of the SR GT 400 Rally Replica.
