HYUNDAI

Test 2025 Hyundai Inster

The 2025 Hyundai Inster is an all-electric, A-segment sub-compact car designed for city driving, with a quirky design and a surprisingly spacious and practical interior. It comes in two battery options: a standard range with a 42 kWh battery and an extended-range version with a 49 kWh battery.

The Inster is a front-wheel-drive (FWD) vehicle with an automatic reduction gear transmission.

Standard Range: Equipped with a 42 kWh battery and a 71 kW (97 PS) electric motor, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.7 seconds, with a top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph).

Extended Range: This version has a 49 kWh battery and a more powerful 85 kW (115 PS) motor. It takes 10.6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph).

Driving range and charging...Range estimates for the 2025 Hyundai Inster vary depending on the battery size and wheel choice.

Standard Range (42 kWh): Offers a WLTP-rated range of up to 327 km (203 miles).

Extended Range (49 kWh): The range is up to 360 km (223 miles) with 17-inch wheels, or 370 km (229 miles) with 15-inch wheels. Some trims, like the "Cross," have a reduced range when an optional roof basket is installed due to aerodynamics.

For charging, the Inster supports both AC and DC fast-charging.

AC Charging: With an 11 kW AC charger, the standard range model takes about 4 hours to fully charge, while the extended range model takes about 4 hours and 35 minutes.

DC Fast Charging: Both battery variants can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using a 50 kW or higher DC fast charger. The maximum charge rate is 73 kW for the 42 kWh battery and 85 kW for the 49 kWh battery.

Interior features and technology...The Inster's interior is praised for its practicality, surprising spaciousness, and technology.

Display: A digital cockpit features a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation and over-the-air updates.

Connectivity: Wireless phone charging, multiple USB-C and USB-A outlets, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on many trims.

Seating: The rear seats are split 50:50 and can both slide and recline to maximize legroom or boot space. In some trims, the front seats can also fold flat.

Interior Flexibility: For increased cargo versatility, all seats can fold completely flat, turning the cabin into a large, open space.

Sustainable Materials: The interior uses sustainable materials, including cloth upholstery made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles and bio-polypropylene.

Other Features: Depending on the trim, features can include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, ambient lighting, and an optional sunroof on the Cross trim.

Trims and styling...The Inster is available in several trim levels, with the "Cross" trim offering more rugged styling.

Exterior: The exterior has a contemporary look with bold LED pixel lighting, designed to feel at home in an urban setting.

Cross Trim: The Inster Cross features a more rugged look with bold black wheel claddings, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a unique Amazonas Green Matte exterior color option. It can also be optioned with roof rails and a roof basket for outdoor gear.(the model in the image above)
