LAMBORGHINI

LBG Murciélago LP 670-4 SV – The Ultimate “Lambo” of the 2000s

More sophisticated than the Diablo, more raw than the Aventador and Revuelta, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV represents the “golden mean” for many supercar enthusiasts, perhaps the best creation of the factory from the Italian town of Sant'Agata Bolognese.

When Lamborghini introduced the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce (SV) in 2009, it was clear that this was the crowning glory of an era. At the time, the Murciélago was a “veteran” in the Italian factory’s offer (it debuted in 2001), but the SV was not just a cosmetic refresh but its latest and most powerful version for the most demanding customers. In other words, Lamborghini saved the best for last.

The Murciélago SV is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine. It is a direct descendant of the legendary V12 engine from 1963, which debuted in the first “Lamba” - the 350 GT model and gradually evolved through the Miura, Countach, Diablo and Murciélago. Namely, the engine in the Murciélago SV is the latest evolution of the creation of the famous engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, whom Ferruccio Lamborghini hired to design the first engine for his factory. It releases 670 horsepower at 8000 rpm, while the maximum torque is 660 Nm at 6500 rpm. The body weight has been reduced by about 100 kg compared to the standard LP 640, thanks to the use of carbon fiber and the removal of “unnecessary” luxury details. The result is an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 342 km/h. The Murciélago LP 670-4 SV is equipped with an E-Gear semi-automatic transmission as standard, but a very small number, only six examples, were built with a manual six-speed gearbox.

The four-wheel drive distributes power predominantly to the rear axle, which allows the SV to retain its recognizable “playfulness” of the rear end, but with significantly better stability at high speeds than its predecessors. As the first model developed under the management of Audi (the Germans took over Lamborghini in 1998), the Murciélago represents a successful combination of Italian character and German precision. Of course, this synthesis is most pronounced in the ultimate LP 670-4 SV.

Visually, the Murciélago SV is more aggressive and functional than the standard versions. A redesigned front bumper, larger air intakes, a carbon diffuser and a large rear spoiler clearly emphasize its uniqueness. There are also traditional, stylized “SV” badges on the sides of the body. The rounded lines of the interior are an interesting contrast to the extremely sharp lines of the body. The minimalist cabin is dominated by Alcantara, carbon and aluminum.

Originally, a series of 350 copies was planned, but due to the cessation of Murciélago production between 2009 and 2010, only 186 cars were built. When you add to this and its other attributes the relentless electrification of today's automotive industry, it is clear why this exclusive "Lambo" is one of the most sought-after supercars among wealthy collectors.
