Kia PV5 – Kia’s first electric van wins award before it even hits the market
Kia has made a name for itself in the UK even before the official launch of its first electric van. The Kia PV5 has won the prestigious “One to Watch” award at the 2025 What Van? Awards.
This is the first award Kia has received in the light commercial vehicle segment in the UK.
The “One to Watch” award is given to vehicles that promise to transform and refresh the market. James Dallas, editor of What Van? magazine, said at the award ceremony that Kia’s entry into the van market represents a new vision for electric freight transport.

The Kia PV5 is not just another van – it is the foundation of a new family of so-called Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBV) vehicles, which are part of Kia’s global Plan S strategy, which was unveiled in 2020.

In 2023, Kia began construction of a new factory dedicated exclusively to electric vans. The PV5 and PV7 concepts were first unveiled in January 2024 at CES in Las Vegas, where they attracted a lot of attention for their innovative design and technological advancement. With the PV5, Kia is not just introducing a new model – it is introducing a new way of thinking about business mobility.
