Bentley Ombre Flying Spur
Bentley has announced a new Ombré color option. So far so good, as this shade was already seen on the Continental GT Speed recently unveiled at Monterey Car Week. Now, this color will also be featured on the Flying Spur. This car, featuring the new color, which transitions from Topaz Blue at the front to Windsor Blue at the rear, will be shown this weekend at the Southampton International Boat Show in the UK. The color transition is gradual, as the two shades meet at the center of the car, creating a unique look on the doors, side sills, and roof.
According to the manufacturer, the Ombré color application takes nearly 60 hours to be applied by two highly skilled technicians in Crewe, UK. After applying the paint to opposite ends of the car, the paint is then blended and applied in stages to ensure a smooth, symmetrical transition on both sides. In addition to the aforementioned color combination, there are two other Ombré combinations: Tungsten/Onyx and Sunburst Gold/Orange Flame.
Mulliner, the renowned British coachbuilder founded in 1897 and now Bentley's special vehicles division, offers the new paint in three distinct color combinations, a number expected to be expanded soon. This is despite the new coating requiring approximately 60 hours per vehicle to achieve the ideal tone and finish, according to Mulliner.

Bentley presents the Ombre Flying Spur by Mulliner, which features a unique paint scheme that took a long time to apply.
In short, their Mulliner personalization department has worked its magic on the paint scheme, which is said to have required nearly 60 hours of hand-crafted work to achieve the perfect blend and finish.
The finish combines two distinct colors, namely “Topaz Blue” at the front and a darker “Windsor Blue” at the rear. The transition occurs across the middle and can be seen on the side sills, doors and roof.
The Bentley Flying Spur on display at the Southampton Boat Show features a "Topaz Blue" at the front and a darker "Windsor Blue" at the rear, with the transition occurring approximately midway through the 17-foot-long sedan, which offers a 780-hp plug-in hybrid engine. The Mulliner-branded ombré paint is also available in a gold-to-yellow gradient (Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame) and gray-to-black (Tungsten to Onyx).

It's not just a clear coat...Also available in combinations like Sunburst Gold - Orange Flame or Tungsten - Onyx, each color pair is designed to avoid unwanted hues and ensure a uniform effect.
Precisely because each paint reacts differently during application, every car will be different from every other, Bentley.
Bentley offers two other options, namely Tungsten / Onyx and Sunburst Gold / Orange Flame, which are said to have been “specifically selected to ensure a smooth and gradual transition between them and to avoid the appearance of a third separate color during the transition” due to the “complexity of how the two colors are combined.”
All of this doesn't come cheap, of course, as Bentley says the Ombre by Mulliner design is their most exclusive paint option, with prices starting at $68,000. The car was unveiled at the Southampton Motor Show, which runs until September 28, alongside other special Bentley models.
