AUTONEWS

Cupra Tindaya Showcar

Cupra arrives at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich to present its bold vision of the future, while exploring new concepts.

One of the brand's main events is the world premiere of the Cupra Tindaya Showcar, which showcases the future design direction and core philosophy of the brand.

Tindaya is named after a volcanic mountain that rises from the island of Fuerteventura, in the wild Atlantic Ocean. Its copper rock reflects the Cupra signature, while its raw form connects with the materials and textures of the Cupra brand's design language.

The Tindaya Showcar embraces the dramatic character of its namesake, with an exterior and interior design that brings to life the radical yet simple idea: "Without a driver, there is no Cupra".

Cupra says it is a show car that provides maximum expression of driver focus, while offering a unique experience, amplifying the driver's emotions. Embodying the brand's vision and its future design language, the Tindaya show car is a perfect symbiosis between man and machine, where driving experience and emotion reach their full expression.

With a length of 4.72 meters, large 23-inch wheels, a 1/3 to 2/3 body-to-body ratio and high ground clearance, prominent progressive wheel arch trims and lower sills, the car displays robust proportions. The fastback silhouette, contrasting with the compact cabin and athletically expressive body, defines the Tindaya's personality.

With the Tindaya, Cupra redefines interior design with a radical yet simple idea: "Without a driver, there is no Cupra". The cockpit is conceived as a completely driver-centric architecture, inspired by motorsport and cutting-edge technology.

At the heart of the design lies the 'Driver Axis' - a dashboard built in layered structural shapes that frame a 24-inch free-form display. The racing and gaming-inspired steering wheel features satellite buttons for complete, distraction-free control, while the raised center console serves as the backbone of a fully integrated, tactile and functional mono cockpit.

The experience is enhanced through advanced physical interaction - the fusion of the physical and the digital. At its core is 'The Jewel' - a sensory and symbolic interface that awakens the vehicle, adjusts driving modes and transforms the atmosphere through lighting, sound and ambient reactions. A projection strip at the base of the windshield, haptic controls and a high-quality sound system created in collaboration with audio experts Sennheiser mobility, transform the cabin into an impressive, resonant space.

The interior features a 2+2 configuration, with next-generation CUPBucket seats: a modern reinterpretation of the classic 'Eames Lounge', combining sustainable materials, high-performance ergonomics and enveloping ambient light.

Tindaya represents a new icon for a new era, true to the Cupra DNA: a muscular, emotional and technologically driven design - where every surface invites touch, emotion and driving pleasure.

The interior is filled with warmth thanks to bronze microfibers, adding depth, texture and a refined touch. The structural elements of the interior, also made of 3D printed aluminum, create a sense of continuity and solidity.

However, the true heart of the vehicle is 'The Jewel', a glass prism, a unique and symbolic element. This physical material acts as a sensory link between the driver and the car. Through it, the user accesses experiences exclusive to Cupra, where driving modes, light, sound and tactile sensations merge in a holistic way.

Reminiscent of a creature at rest, the Tindaya Showcar has a physical awakening that combines digital graphics with striking physical elements. A warm welcome follows, while dynamic exterior lights lead the way into the spacious interior.

Aligned with the driver's axis, the large central display is paired with the Cupra Monitor+, which displays secondary content and information along the windscreen. Built for thrill-seekers and adrenaline junkies, it delivers electrifying performance inspired by the Cupra DNA. All key information is grouped at the top, creating space for a dynamic digital surface that responds to the vehicle's dynamics.
