Marco Bezzecchi Wins After Fabio Quartararo's Breakdown, Marc Márquez Recovering a Podium

Italian Marco Bezzecchi claimed his first victory with Aprilia, winning at Silverstone after Frenchman Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha struggled while leading. Frenchman Johann Zarco finished second, and Spaniard Marc Márquez beat Italian Franco Morbidelli by 0.007 seconds to complete the podium and extend his lead.

Álex Márquez got off to a better start but crashed at the first corner, leaving Marc Márquez with the lead ahead of Fabio Quartararo and Pecco Bagnaia. Franco Morbidelli and Aleix Espargaró fell before the end of the first lap.

Marc Márquez set a very strong pace until crashing on the second lap, and immediately afterward, a red flag was issued due to oil on the track. With three laps underway, the race was declared void, and everyone was able to start from the original grid. After the track clearance, the race restarted with 19 laps, one less than the original, and Pecco Bagnaia took the lead, leading Fabio Quartararo, who passed him at Turn 3, with Marc Márquez passing Álex Márquez to move into third. Immediately after, Jack Miller passed Álex.

Quartararo broke away from the start, and behind him, Miller passed Marc first and then Bagnaia to move into second. Immediately after, Marc slipped through the net and was passed by Zarco, who also threw his bike at Bagnaia, which Marc took advantage of to pass his teammate.

Moments later, both Marc and Bagnaia suffered significant scares, went very far, and returned to the track in ninth and tenth, respectively. Ahead of them, Marco Bezzecchi passed Joan Mir to move into fifth and shortly afterward passed Álex. Immediately after, Pecco Bagnaia crashed. Fully fired up, Bezzecchi overtook Zarco to move into third and go after Miller, who was four seconds behind a flying Quartararo. In the blink of an eye, both Bezzecchi and Zarco caught and overtook Miller with twelve laps still remaining. By then, Quartararo was five seconds back.

Another rider making progress was Franco Morbidelli, who had shaken off Álex to snatch fourth place from Miller. At the back of the pack, Marc gained a position by passing Luca Marini, and shortly after, he made the inside of Joan Mir to get on the wheel of Álex, whom he immediately passed.

Marc Márquez brought his bike into Miller's hands to move into fifth and go after Morbidelli, who had gained a few meters. The eight-time world champion closed the gap and, not without some opposition, overtook the Italian with eight laps to go, but was already two seconds behind Zarco, who in turn had a two-second gap on Bezzecchi.

Bezzecchi had begun to close the gap on Quartararo, who had a four-second lead when, with seven laps remaining, he suffered a problem with his Yamaha and was forced to retire, completely distraught.

This left Bezzecchi in the lead with a comfortable advantage over Zarco, who was left in no man's land. The excitement was behind him, where Marc led a small pack with Miller, Morbidelli, Álex... and Pedro Acosta, who was coming from behind and had shaken off the factory Hondas. The opposite was true for Miller, who was losing steam and was overtaken by Álex.

Marco Bezzecchi managed his advantage well to take an unexpected victory, with Johann Zarco maintaining his lead to finish second, and Marc Márquez beating Franco Morbidelli by just 0.007 seconds after overtaking him several times in the final lap, as Álex Márquez looked on in fifth.

Pedro Acosta finished sixth after overtaking Jack Miller, with Luca Marini right behind them... but under investigation for pressure. Fermín Aldeguer finished ninth, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio and Joan Mir, with Maverick Viñales, Raúl Fernández, and Álex Rins also in the points.
