Stellantis continues the transition to electric drive, and in this regard, new key information has just been disclosed – the maximum power of the electric motors that the Italian-American-French group plans to use.

This applies in particular to premium and luxury brands such as Alfa Romeo and Maserati. It is a fact that has not been clear for a long time, especially when it comes to vehicles based on the STLA Large platform.

Until now, Stellantis has released information about the power of the powertrains for the STLA Small, Smart and Medium platforms, but has remained vague regarding the STLA Large architecture, intended for high-performance flagships.

Only the Dodge Charger Daytona and Jeep Wagoneer S have revealed the specifications of their dual-motor units – 250 kW per electric motor, or about 600 hp combined. This is still below the level expected for vehicles with the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio badge, or the Maserati Folgore badge.

Jean-Philippe Imparato mentioned that the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio electric cars will deliver 1000 hp, without providing any further details. As for Maserati, the GranTurismo Folgore remains an exception, with its three 300 kW electric motors, but they are manufactured by Marelli, so they are not representative of Stellantis' in-house offering.

The news comes directly from official material, in which the Stellantis expert finally lifts the veil on the group's electric motor family. Power per unit will range from 70 to 350 kW, or from 95 to around 475 hp.

This raises some very interesting questions: with two 350 kW electric motors, future flagships, whether they come from Alfa Romeo or Maserati, could theoretically reach 950 hp, provided that the battery is capable of delivering enough energy continuously.

It remains to be seen whether these motors will actually be used. As for Alfa, the electric Quadrifoglio seems to be no longer a priority, while Maserati's electric strategy is rather shaky, as sales of the Folgore have been quite poor so far.

However, this announcement gives a clear idea of ​​the technological potential that Stellantis is ready to exploit. As a reminder, these "high-performance" electric motors are produced at the Kokomo plant in the USA, and from 2026 they will be produced in Szentgottár, Hungary, for the European market.
