Spanish rider Jorge Martin, the reigning MotoGP world champion, was taken to hospital after suffering a serious accident while training on Wednesday at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia in preparation for the upcoming season.
Martin, 27, lost control of his Aprilia and was thrown, landing head first on the track with such force that the visor came off his helmet.
Martin initially complained of pain in his foot and one of his hands and was taken to hospital for examinations.
Earlier in the first MotoGP pre-season test session, Martin had already suffered a fall, although without apparent injuries.
Martin won his first MotoGP world title in 2024 riding a Ducati for the Pramac team, which he left to race for Aprilia after the Italian brand did not offer him an official bike.
The first Grand Prix of the 2025 season is scheduled for March 2 in Thailand.
