Capacete de moto com IA promete campo de visão de 360 graus

Intelligent Cranium Helmets (ICH) launches smart helmets

The era of smart helmets has arrived for motorcyclists. The North American startup Intelligent Cranium Helmets (ICH) presented the iC-R at CES 2025 in Los Angeles, a line of helmets that promises to revolutionize traffic safety by eliminating blind spots, integrating connectivity systems and adding advanced technological features.

The North American startup was born 10 years ago with the goal of building smart helmets. CEO and co-founder Ambrose Dodson said he wanted a product that was safer for changing lanes and that avoided blind spots. Ten years later and now, with artificial intelligence in full swing, the company presents a helmet that combines technology, innovation and protection.

Technology for 360° vision and greater safety...The big highlight of the iC-R is its ability to offer a 360-degree field of vision. This is possible thanks to two rear cameras that capture 240-degree images, integrated into an augmented reality screen above the rider's line of sight. Added to the rider's natural field of vision, the system covers all angles, eliminating blind spots.

In addition, the helmet has a 1080p front camera with a 152-degree range, ideal for recording trips. A simple voice command activates the recording, eliminating the need for cameras. The iC-R comes equipped with proximity alerts that help avoid side collisions, an accident detection system capable of automatically triggering emergencies, and integration with Bluetooth and mobile networks for communication with up to 15 other riders. Information such as speed, GPS directions, and notifications appear without diverting the rider's attention.

With so many features, weight and battery life could be challenges. However, the iC-R strikes a balance: its weight is 1.71 kg, just 27 grams more than traditional helmets such as the Shoei RF1400, and its battery offers between 5 and 7 hours of use, with the option of recharging during the ride.

Prices of the new motorcycle helmet with AI...Available in four models, the prices of the iC-R range from US$ 650 for the Economy version to US$ 1,850 for the Sport Plus, depending on the features included. Although more expensive than traditional helmets, the cost reflects the multiple technologies integrated. Criticisms are due to the amount of information on the screen, which can be distracting at times.
