Images of the second generation VW T-Roc appear on the web
From Palmela to the rest of Europe. This is the route taken by the Volkswagen T-Roc, an SUV that regularly features among the German brand's best-sellers and is produced at the manufacturer's factory on the Setúbal peninsula. Although, in 2024, 236 thousand units of the popular model will have left the assembly line, registering an increase of 7.3% compared to the previous year, the truth is that the SUV, as we know it today, will no longer be manufactured in during this year. The first (official) images of the second generation T-Roc will be revealed soon, with production set to begin in 2025, but some have already leaked onto the Internet. You can see the ones posted on Instagram here.
No one disputes the commercial potential of the T-Roc, a compact SUV with attractive lines and balanced proportions, but it is also impossible to hide the fact that it lacked some assets to continue being one of the best-selling models in the Old Continent in the coming years. We are referring to the impossibility of adopting hybrid or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mechanics, which are fundamental for both drivers and Volkswagen.
Drivers tend to appreciate these new technologies because they reduce consumption and, with it, travel expenses, saving their wallets. But Volkswagen also has no shortage of reasons to embrace engines of this type, as they will contribute to reducing the T-Roc's declared consumption, helping to lower the average emissions across the range and thus avoid the million-dollar penalties applied by the European Union to manufacturers that exceed an average of 93.6g of CO2/km. This is all the more important as even the most affordable version of the current T-Roc emits 131g.
The future T-Roc will continue to use the Golf platform, but now the latest version, the same one used by the Golf VIII that can be found at the brand's stands. The choice of the MQB Evo platform allows the next generation of the T-Roc to use everything that the VW Golf offers its customers, starting with electrified engines, namely hybrids, in addition to software and the latest driving assistance systems. , for greater security.
