BMW M2 by AC Schnitzer: a special patrol car
The new BMW M2 Coupé is a model that offers ‘M’ performance in a concentrated and refined format. The launch of this new generation marks an important date: the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, and precisely because it is such a special event in the calendar, AC Schnitzer chose its ACS2 Sport for the new edition of the ‘Tune it! According to BMW itself, the compact dimensions, together with the adapted powertrain and chassis technology of the BMW M3/BMW M4, form the core of a concept that gives the new generation of the two-door model incredible agility and a drive that remains easily controllable. even when the driver explores the limits of the car.
The 3.0-litre engine, which differs in only a few details from the engine used in the BMW M3 and BMW M4, impresses with its instant response, its ability to deliver maximum performance in the upper tachometer range and its power delivery. linear power across the entire engine speed spectrum.
With a maximum output of 460 hp, the 6-cylinder engine in the new BMW M2 has 90 hp more than the basic unit used by its predecessor. Maximum torque of 550 Nm is delivered between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm and maximum power is reached at 6,250 rpm. This new engine is capable of reaching up to 7,200 rpm.
On this occasion he is disguised as a police vehicle with the aim of making users aware of approved and safe preparations. This initiative was born in 2005 thanks to the Verband Deutscher Automobil Tuner/VDAT (German Association of Automobile Tuners) and has the approval of the authorities. The BMW M2 by AC Schnitzer is already the specialist's eighth creation.
This ACS2 Sport sports an official Foliatec paint job and the Hella RTK 7 police signalling system with Proflash warning lights. Its height has been reduced by 25 to 35 mm at the front and 20 to 30 mm at the rear thanks to an AC Schnitzer RS coilover front shock absorber. For the wheels, they opt for lightweight AC4 forged parts with a Tech Gold finish.
They measure 20 inches in the front and 21 inches in the rear. The AC Schnitzer signature is also present on the rest of the bodywork, with a new splitter, new bumpers, side skirts, renewed diffuser, new air intakes and two spoilers at the rear. Highlighted is the large carbon racing spoiler with an optional trunk lid stretcher.
The exhausts feature a decorative carbon fiber finish to complete a new system with an active valve in keeping with the model's new features. This M2 receives the most powerful performance upgrade in the AC Schnitzer catalogue, whereby the 6-cylinder engine now develops an impressive 560 hp and 650 Nm of torque.
The pieces mentioned are not just decorative. They increase downforce by 60 kg at the front and up to 80 kg at the rear. There are also some new features inside, such as the redesigned sports steering wheel in perforated black Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery with light gray stitching. There are also new aluminum elements and a police radio and siren kit.
