YAMAHA
You'd be wrong to think that Yamaha only works with motorcycles. Although this is its flagship, the company has already participated in the development of several luxury cars that have become popular with buyers, such as Lexus, Lotus and Ford models. Now, the company has revealed that it is helping a famous company in the automotive sector on an electric sports car full of power and autonomy.
The concept of the model was presented last year and, with mass production, it should be ready very soon.
As New Atlas recalled, Yamaha has a part in famous cars with its V-6 and V-10 engines. The Japanese company recently announced that it will also participate in the creation of an all-new electric sports car together with Caterham, a famous British company in the sector.
The vehicle project was called Project V and foresees a carbon fiber and aluminum monocoque, in an attempt to reduce weight. Yamaha will contribute its compact and lightweight electric drivetrain, in addition to “technology and expertise in vehicle motion control,” according to Caterham.
What will the electric sports car be like? During last year's presentation, the companies revealed that the model would weigh 1,190 kilos, have a 268 horsepower rear engine and fast charging, going from 20% to 80% of the battery in just 15 minutes.
At the time, it was a concept. In other words, it is not clear whether the specifications will be the same for the production model, since the companies gave few additional details. It is worth noting that the engine power is the same as that which Yamaha is supplying to other partner models, such as those from Subaru (which indicates that it exists).
The Yamaha model will not be cheap...The model is expected to be ready by mid-2025;
The date is very close and, to speed up production, Caterham used components and parts from other companies, such as Maserati seats and an Audi TT door opening;
The retail price is estimated at US$ 103 thousand
