Marc Márquez ha ganado en Motorland Aragón su primera carrera en MotoGP tras 1.043 días

Marc Márquez returns to the oasis of victory in Aragón after a thousand days in the desert

The Spaniard Marc Márquez has found victory again 1,043 days after winning the race at Motorland, dominating from start to finish to complete a perfect weekend at the Aragón Grand Prix after having taken the Sprint yesterday.

With his second position, Jorge Martín is much more of a leader after the fall of Pecco Bagnaia and Álex Márquez when they were fighting for a third place that Pedro Acosta inherited to complete the Spanish triple.

Marc Márquez again made a perfect start ahead of Pedro Acosta, with Álex Márquez getting into third ahead of Jorge Martín and with Pecco Bagnaia again losing several positions when his bike slipped in the dirty area of the grid. The reigning champion was seventh behind Miguel Oliveira, who in turn was riding behind Franco Morbidelli.

Martín was quick to overtake Álex Márquez and get close to Acosta, and before the end of the first lap, Oliveira crashed. The second lap was underway when Martín released the brakes in the corkscrew to get the bike into Acosta's lap, but they went very far and lost a lot of time, with the Murcian regaining second position, Marc Márquez gaining a lead of almost two seconds and Álex Márquez sticking to them.

Martín took advantage of the straight to overtake Acosta by speed and get into second, quickly opening a gap on the Murcian, who was glued to Álex Márquez, Morbidelli, Bagnaia and Brad Binder. The rookie acted as a bit of a stopper, as as soon as Álex Márquez managed to overtake him, he also quickly made way. Fabio Quartararo fell behind. The top three were stretching out and leaving the excitement for the group fighting for fourth place, where, behind Acosta, a mistake by Morbidelli cost him two positions in favour of Bagnaia and Binder. The Pramac rider was having problems and was also overtaken by a lively Marco Bezzecchi. Much further back, Maverick Viñales entered the pits.

Acosta began to suffer and Bagnaia took advantage of this to throw his bike at him and get into fourth place, with the aim of catching Álex Márquez, who was two seconds ahead of him with twelve laps to go. Little by little he was making up for this disadvantage until he was on his wheel, still with seven laps to go.

Everything was up in the air when, with five laps to go, Álex Márquez made a small mistake that caused him to go wide, Pecco Bagnaia took advantage of it to launch himself around the outside and managed to get ahead... but Álex didn't see him and looked for the inside of the next corner, the two bikes getting caught up and ending up with both on the ground.

There would be no more surprises and Marc Márquez remained unstoppable until the end to take his first victory with Ducati, the 85th of his life and the first since the one he achieved 1,043 days ago (2 years, 10 months and 8 days) at the 2021 Emilia-Romagna GP in Misano.

Jorge Martin finished almost five seconds behind and Pedro Acosta found himself on the podium to complete the Spanish triple, with Brad Binder fourth and Enea Bastianini moving into the top five after letting go of Franco Morbidelli, with Fabio Di Giannantonio seventh followed by his teammate Marco Bezzecchi. Alex Rins was ninth, with Jack Miller tenth and both Augusto Fernandez and Joan Mir in points.

However, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller and Raul Fernandez are all under investigation for pressuring, so it is expected that they will receive a 16-second penalty.
