ACURA INTEGRA TYPE S HRC CONCEPT: PROTÓTIPO APRESENTA UMA NOVA LINHA DE PEÇAS DE ALTA PERFORMANCE

Integra Type S HRC Prototype: New High-Performance Lineup from the Japanese Brand

Acura debuted the Integra Type S HRC Prototype, highlighting a potential new line of high-performance parts from Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) geared toward street and track, leveraging the technical expertise and experience of HRC’s racing engineers. Unveiled during Monterey Car Week 2024, one of the world’s largest gatherings of automotive and motorsports enthusiasts, the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype builds on the dynamic capabilities of the most powerful and highest-performance Integra ever made, delivering ultimate street and track performance that Acura enthusiast customers will be able to enjoy in their own Integras.

“HRC Performance Parts is an exciting concept focused on building a stronger connection with Acura and Honda enthusiasts eager to access HRC’s exclusive racing engineering to enhance their high-performance driving experience,” said Jon Ikeda, Senior Vice President, Honda Racing Corporation USA. “Every specification of the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype screams performance. Everything is functional – if it doesn’t improve performance, it’s not in the car.”

Led by Southern California-based HRC US, development of the Integra Type S HRC Prototype focuses on improving every element of the driving experience – engine, suspension and braking performance – along with significant weight reduction, highlighting the Integra Type S’s potential and greatly improving performance on the street and on the racetrack.

To help reinforce the chassis and provide a location for multi-point belt attachments, the rear bulkhead is reinforced with a robust X-Brace, which is finished in the same striking Indy Yellow Pearl paint as the exterior. The premium performance experience inside is further enhanced with black Alcantara and matching yellow seatbelts, stitching and trim.

Optimized aerodynamics...Designed at the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype’s aggressive styling is distinctive and dynamic from every angle. The prototype model applies technical expertise gained in developing the aerodynamics of the Integra Type S TCX race car to increase downforce and improve stability at high speeds. Aerodynamic performance at track speeds is optimized with several functional aerodynamic elements, including a new front end with a larger front splitter and cooling ducts, larger hood scoops, side splitters and an adjustable carbon fiber rear spoiler with aluminum struts.

The prototype’s visually intense body is finished in a striking Indy Yellow Pearl paint, a color that debuted on the second-generation NSX supercar. Custom aluminum HRC emblems milled into the hood, front fenders and trunk lid make a bold statement, featuring the same logo seen on Honda and Acura’s winning IndyCar, IMSA and Formula 1 racing machines.

Weight Savings...To improve overall performance, the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype makes extensive use of carbon fiber components to reduce weight, including the hood, rear door panels and one-piece Recaro seats with aggressive bolstering. The rear seat has been replaced with an ingenious carbon shelf designed to provide hardcore racing enthusiasts with secure transportation of four mounted wheels and tires for track days.

Along with the option to remove the air conditioning, the overall weight is reduced by more than 200 pounds compared to the Integra Type S.

Improved engine and handling performance...The power, response and cooling performance of the high-revving 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC engine are improved with a larger intercooler, dual oil coolers and a lightweight, tuned cat-back exhaust system, all developed for the Acura Integra Type S HRC TCX race car.

The ride is optimized with a track-ready suspension lowered (15 mm) with tuned coilovers, adjustable rear stabilizer bar and adjustable front and rear camber plates, similar to the Acura Integra Type S HRC TCX race car. Lightweight 19 x 9.5-inch forged wheels with increased negative offset increase the front and rear track width by 30 mm. This not only improves handling, but gives the prototype an especially aggressive stance.

To maximize grip, the performance wheels are shod with track-ready Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R (265/30 ZR19) high-performance tires with a treadwear rating of 60.

For exceptional braking performance, the Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype employs massive 15-inch two-piece front discs (1.4 inches larger than the standard Integra) and Brembo 6-piston aluminum calipers. Two-piece rear discs were used to further reduce unsprung weight. Larger ducts at the front improve brake cooling performance by directing more air to the front discs.

Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US)...HRC US leads all of Honda and Acura’s high-performance racing programs in North America, including top-tier racing programs in IndyCar and IMSA sports cars, as well as commercial racing programs and contributing to the company’s Formula One program. In 2026, HRC will partner with the Aston Martin Aramco F1 team as an official engine supplier. With three F1 races now in the US (Austin, Miami, Las Vegas), HRC USA will be involved in Formula 1 power unit development and racing support from 2026.

HRC was established in Japan in 1982 as the motorcycle racing arm of Honda, and is recognised for over 40 years of championship racing heritage in top global racing categories such as WGP/MotoGP, Superbike, Motocross, World Trial and the Paris Dakar Rally. In 2022, HRC added motor racing, including Honda’s F1 programme, to its responsibilities.
