Marc Márquez: “I had never shared the podium with my brother and it is super special”
Spaniard Marc Márquez spoke on DAZN after finishing second in the German Grand Prix race held at Sachsenring.
Podium after a thousand complications...I arrived at the box and said: key point, the rib is better, this means that there is no crack or anything, it was simply the blow, the muscle tension from yesterday, and today I felt better. This has allowed me to ride much more loosely, but I took the race easy. There are few overtaking points, especially the pressure from the front was difficult. We made a mistake in Assen, so here we went the other way, towards more pressure, but it was difficult to manage. I haven't gotten nervous. When there was contact with Morbidelli, that's when I clicked, and in the last two laps I saw that Álex was getting closer to me and I said: what do I do now, do I take the podium from him or not? (Laughs) Do I try, don't I try, mess it up, don't I mess it up? But well, Jorge fell, Jorge fell, and then our ideas became clearer, especially for me and Álex because we were able to be on the podium. We couldn't win, because starting from behind was difficult and Pecco had a great race, both Pecco and Martín; But sharing the podium with his brother had never happened before. Well, in our case: the Aoki brothers had done it, but it is super special.
Improvement since yesterday...It's one thing when you have problems, but then there's when you have more physical problems. Yesterday I didn't have everything in hand and I couldn't be aggressive like I like, but today in the corner I could brake as I wanted. I did not lose in that partial one, which is two curves, it is a simple partial; but it could be much more aggressive, and for me the most important thing is that once again we have shown speed. We need to have a good weekend, on a circuit like this, which we like, but I enjoyed it. It has been a race to enjoy without getting nervous, without panicking and simply enjoying and going through the laps.
Candidate for the title...Candidate? The numbers say it, I can't deceive. I would say: 'yes, let's try to recover'. But the issue is that there are two drivers who go a little further than us. There are Martín and Pecco who go faster, they have a little more. And yes, on some circuit we can beat them, we can fight against them like we did in Le Mans and Jerez. Yes. But, if you take the nine remaining races, based on statistics from the first part of the season, they are going to get us even more points, so we will try to manage it in the best way. We will try to continue enjoying. It is true that we leave this weekend with a good taste in our mouths, with this second place, but it has been a bad weekend. It has been a weekend where everything has happened, where it is time to learn from it, both the team and myself. Have we saved him once again? Yes, but it was a weekend that, if we had squared it, we would have fought with the two championship roosters.
