Stellantis announced in May that it will bring the Leapmotor T03 to Brazil starting this year. Recent records published by the Mentiras Automotivas page on Instagram caught the compact driving through the streets of Betim, in Minas Gerais, where the automotive group has a factory.
Nicknamed “Stellantis Dolphin” and “Electric Furni”, the Leapmotor T03 should rival the BYD car and enter the competition for the cheapest electric cars on the national market.
The launch of the Leapmotor T03 is approaching. Stellantis announced the arrival of the compact later this year and records shared on Instagram confirmed that the car is already being tested on Brazilian streets.
The model is in the approval process here and should only be launched in the most basic version (there are more versions on the Chinese market).
It is not yet known whether the launch will be at a Stellantis dealership or at a Fiat, Jeep or other brand in Brazil.
The Leapmotor T03 is Stellantis' electric compact. In Brazil, it should arrive in the basic version with a 41.3 kWh lithium and iron phosphate battery. In the Chinese cycle, this corresponds to a range of 280 km.
A second version with a larger battery provides a range of 403 km, but it should not arrive here initially, as the proposal is to have a competitive price that positions the Leapmotor T03 among the cheapest in the country.
The car is 3.62 meters long, 1.65 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2.40 meters;
The front electric motor has 107 horsepower;
While in the Chinese cycle the autonomy reaches 280 km, in the European cycle it is 265 km;
The Leapmotor T03 has a 260-liter trunk (smaller than the 290 liters of the Renault Kwid, the cheapest model in Brazil currently, and larger than the 230 liters of the BYD Dolphin Mini);
Inside, the model has an 8-inch digital panel and a 10.1-inch multimedia center;
If the car follows the Chinese line, it may also come with lane keeping assistance, emergency braking and other camera and sensor features.
How much does the Stellantis Leapmotor T03 cost? The Leapmotor T03 will go on sale by the end of the year, but no price has been announced. According to Autoo, the expectation is that the model will be among the cheapest in the country, costing between R$100,000 and R$120,000 (Brazilian currency).
