Elon Musk confirms that the Tesla Cybertruck will get FSD v12.5 in August

Tesla's FSD v12.5 update for the Cybertruck now has a rollout timeframe - sometime in August. Confirmed by Elon Musk on July 28th during an X takeover event livestream, v12.5 will upgrade autonomous driving with a single neural network for city navigation and enhanced driver monitoring. Beyond core features, the update has some user-centric improvements like climate control, headlights, and entertainment.

During the X Takeover event livestream, Elon Musk announced that the FSD v12.5 update will roll out to the Cybertruck sometime in August. He stated '2-4ish weeks' from July 28th could be a potential date, which roughly translates to mid-late August. This update is huge for Tesla, upgrading autonomous driving and driver monitoring.

The new FSD system, built on a single neural network, improves lane changes, intersection navigation, and overall performance in urban environments. Vision-based driver monitoring and a better 'allow for sunglasses' feature ensures driver attention while maintaining safety on the road. Tesla has implemented stricter Autopilot usage guidelines, including a strike system that can lead to temporary suspension of Autopilot features for excessive inattentiveness.

Beyond the core advancements in autonomous driving, the update introduces a range of features designed to enhance the overall user experience. Drivers can now enjoy faster A/C cooling, adaptive headlights for improved visibility on curves, and the addition of Beach Buggy Racing at Supercharger locations. The v12.5 update also prioritizes user experience and privacy with improvements such as a more prominent Autopilot attention warning, detailed location sharing information, and the ability to filter explicit content on TIDAL.

Tesla's recent acquisition of numerous LiDAR units and their subsequent appearance on the Cybertruck is clearly a pretty big shift in the company's approach to autonomous driving. It's even bigger for the Cybertruck, considering v12.5 will be the first major update since its launch.
