Alfa Romeo Junior 280 VELOCE: greater efficiency and more pleasure in everyday driving
Alfa Romeo opened the doors of its Test Center in Balocco (province of Vercelli), for a day of pre-approval testing of the new Junior 280 VELOCE, 100% electric, the epitome of sportiness in the range - and revealed the secrets of its excellent driving dynamics. The dynamic pre-presentation allowed industry experts to put the brand's first electric compact sports car through its paces on the same circuits where the model's dynamic concept was validated, bringing Alfa Romeo's sportiness back to the largest segment of the market.
Dynamic development and validation of all Alfa Romeo automobiles takes place at the Balocco Test Center, an iconic site completed in 1962. Alfa Romeo's Italian team of engineers have worked on the brand's latest models and were on hand to support dynamic testing. After all, it is on these same tracks that all Alfa Romeo road cars from recent decades have undergone development tests, in exactly the same place where the Alfa Romeo Junior is put to the test. Likewise, the historic and unforgettable ‘Alfa Corse’ team also tested and tuned here the racing cars that competed in international motorsport (F1 - DTM - Super Turismo).
The Alfa Romeo Junior 280 VELOCE embodies the brand's sporting attitude in a compact car. It is based on Alfa Romeo's usual formula, combining its proverbial excellence - perfect weight balance, first-class driving dynamics, segment-leading technological and powertrain solutions - and that 'timeless beauty', long the hallmark of the Alfa Romeo design. This version takes these characteristics to the highest level, so that it presents segment-leading agility and the best road behavior in its class. This is all possible thanks to two world firsts for the introduction of the Junior VELOCE: the new 280 hp/207 kW electric motor and the latest TorSen ‘D’ mechanical limited-slip differential. The new car also adopts specific and exclusive technical solutions, including the most direct steering in the segment (14.6), specially calibrated to reinforce its exceptional road-holding qualities. Furthermore, the suspension has been lowered by 25 mm and the stabilizer bars are sportier to ensure fast and precise cornering. The braking system includes 380mm discs at the front with 4-piston monobloc calipers, while 20-inch high-performance tires are specific for high-performance electric vehicles.
