Tesla Model Y em um Supercharger

Model Y continues to lead sales in Europe

In April, European consumers purchased practically 219,770 vehicles equipped with rechargeable batteries, which represents growth of 11% compared to the same period in 2023. In terms of market percentage, vehicles with rechargeable batteries — which includes electric vehicles, but also plug-in hybrids (PHEV) — represented around 20% of the total models traded in the 4th month of 2024, registering a reduction of 1% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data collected by analyst José Pontes, from EV Volumes.

Among vehicles sold with rechargeable batteries, 100% electric vehicles attracted 143,000 new buyers, which guaranteed them 13% of the total market, with the remaining 77,000 for PHEVs, which represented 7% of the total market. In April, while trams saw sales rise by 17%, PHEVs saw demand increase by only 5%, proving that the former are the fastest growing type of engine, while the latter are losing more and more dynamism, despite the great commitment of Germany in lending a helping hand, especially to brands such as BMW and Mercedes, which prefer to invest in PHEVs rather than electric vehicles, as they require a lower level of investment (in specific platforms, new or deeply remodeled factories and production of battery cells) .

With 9,489 units sold, the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling tram in the European market in April, a market that continues to lead despite having fallen 11% compared to the same period in 2023. The novelty was not only the 2nd most sold, like the short distance it was from the leader of the ranking. We are referring to the Volvo EX30, which placed 8672 units on the market, approaching the Model Y and moving away from the VW ID.4, which took 3rd place, with 6011 vehicles. 4th place among the best-selling trams went to the Audi Q4 e-tron (5909), followed by the VW ID.3 (5157), the BMW iX1 (4506), Tesla Model 3 (4482), Skoda Enyaq iV (4359) and BMW i4 (4309).

If we consider sales in the first four months of 2024, the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling model, with 67,560 units, followed by the Tesla Model 3 (31,731), Volvo EX30 (22,283) and the Audi Q4 e-tron (21,443). In the next places in the ranking we find the Peugeot e-208 (18,828), the Skoda Enyaq iV (18,162), the Volvo XC40 (18,073), the MG4 (17,668) and the BMW i4 (16,684).
