The Lamborghini Aventador and its powerful pure V12 engine said goodbye some time ago, so we can only look to the future. But that's not a bad thing, because the view isn't exactly disappointing. This week DMC presented an even more radical proposal for the Lamborghini Revuelto.
Recalling that the next-generation Italian flagship features a plug-in hybrid system that includes a new 6.5-liter V12 engine, a new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, a lithium-ion battery and a trio of electric motors. The combined power is no less than 1,015 hp, which is sent to both axles.
The super sports car is based on a newly developed monocoque chassis made entirely from carbon fiber. Inspired by aeronautics, the so-called ‘monofuselage’ reduces weight by 10% compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, torsional rigidity has increased by 25%. It is the ‘first super sports car’ with a carbon fiber front structure.
At the rear, Lamborghini uses high-strength aluminum alloys. We see two hollow castings for the shock and suspension towers. They are integrated into a single component to reduce weight, increase rigidity and reduce weld lines. The diet was necessary to compensate for the additional weight of the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The German specialist offers a complete carbon fiber body package that improves airflow and increases downforce. It can be ordered in pre-impregnated carbon fiber (with a glossy or matte finish) or forged, depending on the customer's taste. The material is polished by hand and machine, before being waxed and sealed.
This kit will be limited to just 10 units and has a price between 288,888 and 388,888 dollars, values to which the price of the Revuelto must be added. In total, values close to one million dollars. To ensure availability, two copies will be manufactured for North America, another two for the Middle East and one for China, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Europe.
In addition, the company's current customers will have priority in the ordering process. It is worth mentioning that the package adds a set of new carbon fiber wheels, slightly modified side skirts, fenders, a new bumper with a prominent splitter and an even more aggressive rear bumper than the standard one.
DMC also adds new screens on the hood and a rear spoiler of biblical proportions that extends to the diffuser. It is supported by a central fin on the engine cover. Each of the 10 examples of the Edizione GT will have a different color finish. Furthermore, owners will be able to personalize their cars with logos or names engraved on both the exterior and interior.
And speaking of the interior, the developer speaks of a “completely renovated interior”, but without giving any new details. In this case we find a new stainless steel exhaust system and an optional power increase of 89 hp for the V12 plug-in hybrid propulsion system.
