VW Volksbus 22.260: the new 15 meter urban segment bus in the Brazilian market

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus has just launched the Volksbus 22.260 S, also known as the VW superbus, as it has the highest technical capacity in its urban segment with 15 meters in the Brazilian market, transporting up to around 115 passengers, with bodies that can reach 15 meters. Already successful in its previous version, the new VW chassis hits the market with more than 100 units ordered by different customers across Brazil.

“We have already conquered some of the main places in Brazil with its predecessor and expectations with the Volksbus 22.260 S are high thanks to a configuration that delivers the desires of our passenger transport: more efficiency and comfort, combined with technology and great safety. The model combines a 30% increase in transport capacity with a reduced operating cost compared to other larger vehicles, such as articulated vehicles”, highlights Ricardo Alouche, vice-president of Sales, Marketing and After-Sales at VWCO.

Equipped with a D08 engine calibrated with a wide range of maximum torque, the vehicle provides adequate performance for the operation, with fuel savings that can reach 8% with the new powertrain configuration. One of the model's greatest strengths is the positioning of the third axle at the front, which allows the chassis to reach a load capacity of 22 tons and, at the same time, allows for the most diverse configurations, according to the needs of the operation, delivering more efficiency for the application.

In terms of comfort, one of the main attractions is the pneumatic suspension, a fundamental item for well-being on board, especially on rough terrain, in addition to reducing maintenance costs. And, as with the entire new VWCO line, this Volksbus brings advantages such as the new multifunctional steering wheel with multi-adjustable column as standard to accommodate the most varied driver heights. All this combined with a new driver position that allows for better ergonomics and a greater field of vision.

The gear lever is repositioned on the dashboard to make driving much easier and more ergonomic and the other components of the cockpit have also been rethought to favor viewing angles and comfort for the driver. The new steering system, in turn, reduces maneuvering effort by up to 30%, making it even more precise.

The Volksbus 22.260 S is also more technological: the instrument panel adds 70 more features to facilitate vehicle operation, with data that supports your daily life, such as information about the trip, consumption, range, driving performance and directions. faults and diagnostics. And everything can be customizable.

The evolutions of the most modern VW chassis line also deliver more active safety and are present in the new Volksbus 22.260 S, with a package of standard solutions that act automatically.
