RENAULT

More or less a year after updating the Clio, Renault presents the restyling of its successful urban-style SUV: the Renault Captur 2025. And as with the utility, the changes were greater than one might expect from an update half commercial life cycle.
A model that, remember, is manufactured in the Spanish plant of the French brand in Valladolid, from where 2.2 million copies have already been produced, which have been distributed throughout 90 countries, in its 10 years of life.
This restyling is the work of Frenchman Gilles Vidal, Design Director at Renault, responsible for giving the company a new image, together with Spanish Paula Fabregat, Design Projects Director of the brand. And he's succeeding, after all, just take a look at this Captur 2025, which from the front looks like a completely new model.
Exterior design...First of all, what draws the most attention at the front are the new, narrower LED headlights, with daytime running lights that also feature a light signature.
A list of new features that also includes the grille, bumpers, different air intakes and the brand's renewed logo, which is getting smaller and smaller. And, as Paula Fabregat says: “We don't need to show the logo, people already recognize the car as a Renault”.
Depending on the finish (Evolution, Techno or Esprit Alpine), the wheels can be 17, 18 and even 19 inches, something never seen on the model until now. Furthermore, as is usual, with a more sporty style, the aim is to maximize the image of the ensemble.
And everything is complemented by a two-tone body, which offers 14 different color options, based on six colors, Pearl White, Oyster Grey, Starry Black, Gunmetal Grey, Iron Blue and Flame Red, which can be combined with the so-called Highland Grey, Starry Black or Perle Beige, as contrast on the roof and mirror housings.
On the other hand, perhaps the most eye-catching feature of the rear are the transparent taillights, in a model that maintains its dimensions, measuring 4.24 m long, 1.80 m wide and 1.58 m high, combined with a wheelbase of 2.64 m.
Interior design...In principle, this aspect may seem less innovative, but we must highlight an important novelty within its category: the OpenR Link multimedia equipment with integrated Google system (in fact, the Android Automotive 12 operating system). And if it works as well as other new products from the brand, it could undoubtedly be a differentiating factor.
A system that, in fact, has Google Maps, Google's voice assistant and access to the Google application store, with around 50 apps currently, as well as its compatibility with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
Everything, in a cabin configured with the now classic 'L'-shaped double screen: 10.25 inches and horizontal format, for the instrumentation (which can show information from Google Maps, for example), and 10.4 inches in a vertical position, for the multimedia system.
In terms of space, it seems that everything remains unchanged, including a rear seat with longitudinal adjustment of 16 centimeters, which also influences a trunk that varies between 484 and 616 liters, in the gasoline and LPG versions, and between 348 and 480 liters, in the E-Tech Full Hybrid.
Furthermore, the upholstery and finishes vary depending on the finish chosen, and Renault announces a total of 24.7 liters distributed across the different interior spaces, including a glove box with 7 liters of capacity.
Engines...To begin with, the new Renault Captur 2025 offers a range with a total of five different engines, in which the absence of a diesel engine is no longer surprising and where electrified options predominate. Regarding the PHEV, which was already 'lost' in the previous model, it will not return to the line.
For now, Renault has not announced the prices of this renewed Captur 2025. But soon there will be information about them, in a model whose first deliveries will arrive in Europe in June.
What we do know is that it has a total of 28 driving aids, multi-sense driving modes will continue to be offered, with the Eco, Sport, Comfort and Personal programs, and that it can be equipped with expanded Extended Grip traction control. , with snow and off-road modes, in the E-Tech Full Hybrid versions equipped with 18-inch tires.
